This post is all about how we said “Welcome home,” to Lucy!

As you probably know, we got our Siberian Husky, Lucy, in late March of this year. She was born in early February so we had planned to get her about a month before things changed around here, but it’s been super special getting to be there for every step of her puppyhood! She’s mischievous, adorable, and totally sweet too. She’s a wonderful addition to our now three-dog family and has become best friends with our “middle” dog, Astro. We are kennel-training here, but also planning to do some socially distanced travel later this summer and wanted something we could use for both home and travel. So we found this awesome plastic kennel for her!

Welcome Home, Lucy! Why We Chose Plastic Kennels:

Safety!

Did you know that plastic kennels are a safe alternative to wire or other forms of pet containment? We love that Petmate builds its industry-leading plastic kennels to minimize sharp edges and provide a safe and inviting place for your dog to rest.

Durability!

Petmate plastic kennels are designed to be strong, safe, and tough. And to protect both your pet and your home. We also love that it was easy to put together and feels completely secure.

They’re designed for canine instinct!

Did you know that your dog has a natural desire to find a safe and secure place they can call their own? That’s why we love Petmate plastic kennels, because they foster a natural denning instinct for Lucy to be snug and comfortable.

Travel!

Our plastic kennel has uses beyond the home – the shape and durability make it easy to keep Lucy safe for travel. So whether we’re at home or on the road, this is her home away from home, created specifically for her to feel cozy and comfy.

Lucy is our puppy! We were happy to welcome her home with a premium plastic kennel, because it’s the best and safest choice for her within our home. We customized ours by using Scarlet’s baby blanket, because Lucy has gotten quite attached to the blanket.

So, how do you welcome home a new dog?

  1. This looks like a great and sturdy crate! We have one that was passed down to us but it’s a big and bulky wire crate and now I’m wondering if maybe we should upgrade our Milo palace to something like this. We have a really soft Anthropologie comforter in there for him and a pillow he has not yet managed to chew apart though, lol. Scarlet looks so grown up in these pictures ❤️ Love seeing photos of your latest addition!!

    1. Ha, that’s good! No doubt that comforter isn’t cheap. We have another crate for the older dogs, but we love this one so much more. It’s so light that my pregnant self can carry it up and down stairs!

    1. Awesome! That’s so cool that you foster. I like this one because it’s lightweight but durable which I need for carrying it around while pregnant. Lucy loves it!

  2. Past the crating stage here, but do agree the plastic crates really are a must. Welcome home to Lucy indeed and seriously though she is such a cutie!! 🙂

  3. Nice crate! Those are really important at first. We once put a bed in with Eddie one day when we first got him and then he ripped the bed to shreds. Um, that was not our intention, but the fluff when we came home…. we had no idea what had happened and he looked so happy and oblivious to the carnage 🙂

    1. haha, it’s so funny how innocent he must have looked. We have three dog beds and three dogs and they still prefer couches or cold floors or even our beds.

    1. It truly is the year for it! I can’t say enough about being home for all of her puppyhood.. or I would have.. but having the family home for it!
