And oh, the goodness! These remind me of treats we used to make when I was a Brownie, since I never made it to Girl Scouts, if you can believe that! I was quite attached to my awesome troop leader, and after she moved away, I didn’t see the point in continuing. My favorite part of being a Brownie was snack time, and mainly, that we made our own snacks and treats. We used dipping caramels and melting chocolates and made all sorts of seasonal snacks. So, you can absolutely enjoy these year-round, and SHOULD, but I had to give them a Valentine’s Day theme for this round, because you all know how much I love loving love. Is that a sentence? Yes. Yes, it is. I love loving love, and I love apples, I love sprinkles, I love almonds, and I love fun treats for my kids.
Valentine Treats Recipes: Chocolate Apples Snack:
What You Need:
5 apples (we used a mixture of red and green)
Freshly squeezed lemon juice
7 oz. white chocolate
Sprinkles
Ground Almonds
Red food coloring – 2-3 drops
What You Do:
1 – Cut your apples into thin slices (0.2 inches thick, approx) and then pour lemon juice over each slice.
2 – Use a small heart cookie cutter to cut out a small heart in the middle of the thin, round slice.
3 – Melt white chocolate in a microwave, and then add the red food coloring and combine the mixture.
4 – Insert a wooden skewer into each apple slice and dip the slices into chocolate.
5 – Then, add sprinkles, ground almonds, or a combination of both!
6 – Place in the fridge to set, and enjoy.
