Unicorn Rice Krispies Treats Wands
Unicorn Rice Krispies Treats Wands are fun for any occasion, but also, there’s big fun in the process of making these together! Scarlet went through a pretty major unicorn phase, and Des actually did too. It remains to be seen with Rider and Sawyer, but honestly, who doesn’t love unicorns? And magic wands? These are cute, colorful, and fun, and you can make them too!
Unicorn Rice Krispies Treats Wands:
What You Need:
6 cups crispy rice cereal
(10 oz) miniature marshmallows
3 Tbsp butter
White almond bark, white chocolate chips, or white candy wafer melts
Sprinkling sugars: purple, pink, yellow, green, and blue
Candy eyeballs (1 for each wand)
Jumbo marshmallows (2 for each wand)
Candy melt wafers: purple, pink, yellow, green, and blue
White powdered doughnuts (2 for each wand)
Swirl lollipops, optional (1 for each wand)
Heart icing decorations, optional (2 for each wand)
Gummy Starburst candy, (3 for each wand)
You will also need:
Unicorn cookie cutter
Toothpicks
Waxed paper
Bamboo skewers (1 for each wand)
What You Do:
1 – First, prepare a 13 x 9 baking sheet with wax paper and a spritz of non-stick cooking spray.
2 – Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat; then, wen the butter is melted, add the marshmallows and melt, stirring constantly. Remove the saucepan from heat.
3 – Fold in the cereal and then stir until the cereal is coated in the marshmallow.
4 – Using a buttered spatula or greased wax paper, evenly press mixture into baking sheet. Cool completely.
5 – Use cookie cutter to cut treats. If the treats are loose, press additional mixture into the cookie cutter before releasing the shape onto waxed paper.
6 – Reshape the remaining cereal in your baking pan until all is used. Cut away horn from treat if using a swirl lollipop.
7 – Place white candy bark in a microwave safe bowl and then melt on high heat, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted. (Do not overheat. If the candy is too thick, add vegetable shortening or coconut oil in 1 teaspoon increments, up to 1 Tbsp, and stir well. Do not add water.)
8 – Lightly dip one side of a unicorn treat into the melted candy and immediately add sprinkles to the mane area. (TIP: To keep the mane neat, use a small piece of waxed paper to create a barrier. Or, apply sprinkles and scrape a clean line to remove excess. Then, use a spoon to re-apply melted candy to the face of the unicorn. Tap the treat gently against the waxed paper to create a smoother surface.)
9 – While the candy is wet, press the eye into place.
10 – Allow to dry completely before adding the bamboo skewer and/or swirl lollipop.
Dipped marshmallow instructions:
11 – Place colored candy bark in a microwave safe bowl. Melt on high heat, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted. Do not overheat. (If the candy is too thick, add vegetable shortening or coconut oil in 1 teaspoon increments, up to 1 tablespoon, and stir well. Do not add water.)
12 – Pierce each jumbo marshmallow with a toothpick to create a handle for dipping.
13 – Dip each marshmallow into candy coating to create an angle across the marshmallow. Place marshmallow with the dipped side down on waxed paper to dry completely.
Rainbow splattered doughnut instructions:
14 – Place doughnuts on waxed paper or cookie cooling rack.
15 – Using the remaining melted candy, drizzle over doughnuts.
16 – If using icing decorations, immediately press into the middle of the doughnut.
17 – Allow doughnuts to set completely before assembling the treat wands.
Assembly instructions:
18 – Gently slide a bamboo skewer through a coated marshmallow. Then, add a splattered doughnut and another marshmallow.
19 – Twist gummy candy on the bamboo skewer and position as desired.
20 – Add an additional doughnut before topping the treat wand with a unicorn rice krispies treats wand.
