To this day, the smell of the Dove Beauty Bar catches me in the heart every time.
Some products are timeless and will be a part of your life from childhood through adulthood, and will go on all of life’s journeys with you. That’s my Dove Beauty Bar. Personally, it’s the Dove Pink Beauty Bar that takes me back. I can remember my Grandma Bella keeping it in her bathtub for houseguests, and wrapping the pink bar in a washcloth for me, and then one for my sister. Now as a mom myself, I buy that same bar for my daughter, and I buy the Dove White Beauty Bar and the Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar for my husband, son, and guests. It makes me think of my Grandma each time.

Also because when it comes to my skincare routine, I won’t settle for less!

I’m not just the hostess with the mostest, and it’s not just that I’m nostalgic for my Dove Pink Beauty Bar. In fact, there are a number of reasons to love all Dove Beauty Bar products. Here’s some awesome info I couldn’t wait to share with you:

1 – A recent Dove survey found that 86% of dermatologists report that the “squeaky clean” feeling means your skin might be stripped of the moisture and nutrients it needs.

2 – Unlike basic soap bars, Dove Beauty Bar gently but effectively cleanses, leaving soft, smooth skin

3 – Dove Beauty Bar is sold at mass, food and drug retailers nationwide.

4 – Dove Beauty Bar is the #1 Dermatologist recommended Soap Bar.

5 – Dove Beauty Bar is the #1 Pediatrician recommended Bar.

I remember the day I traded from my ordinary bar to a Dove Bar. It was like coming home again. I honestly haven’t looked back in well over 15 years. Now that I’m a mama of two, it’s a no-brainer at the store. Dove Beauty Bar is a great value and a product for the whole family. I finally caught on after months of my family stealing my Dove Bar, that I could get them for everyone! I’m not entirely sure why it didn’t occur to me earlier, but hey, I finally caught on! No time like the present.

Remember the fun game, “Two Truths & a Lie”? I LOVE that game. In fact, I have been known to write Two Truths & a Lie posts in which I tell you three stories – two of which are true and one of which is a lie – and I’ve stumped you. We’re going to play now! No peeking and scrolling down. I know you can do this! Are you ready to play Two Truths & a Lie: Dove Beauty Bar Edition? Don’t forget to share what you learn. Debunking common skincare myths is a service to our friends!

1 – Oily skin needs moisture

2 – All cleansers dry out skin

3 – Sometimes it’s okay to wash your face and body with the same cleanser

#2 is the lie! Did you get that right? Regular soaps can dry out your skin, but the Dove Beauty Bar is different. With 1/4 moisturizing cream, it cleans and nourishes skin, while also helping to maintain skin’s natural moisture.

Also, I have totally used the same cleanser on my face and body. Whew.

1 – The cleanser you choose has little relation to your general skin health

2 – Daily use of ordinary and/or premium soap bars can make it more difficult for skin to maintain its natural moisture

3 – Dove Beauty Bar moisturizes while cleansing

Well you KNOW #3 is not the lie! It’s #1 that is the lie. It’s super important to be conscious of what you’re cleansing your skin with, because that sets the tone for your skin health. And Dove Bar lays the foundation for soft and smooth skin!

Did I mention it effectively cleanses too?

1 – The Dove Beauty Bar has been around for over 60 years (well you know it’s been around for over 30 because of my Grandma!)

2 – Soap doesn’t strip skin of its essential nutrients

3 – The dry, tight feeling that you sometimes experience post-cleansing means your skin was cleansed thoroughly without damage

#2 is the lie! The truth is that 92% of dermatologists report that ordinary soap can strip skin of its essential nutrients according to a Dove survey. The signature 1/4 moisturizing cream in the Dove Beauty Bar replenishes nutrients lost during the cleansing process.

1 – Dove Beauty Bar comes in four varieties

2 – Dove Beauty Bar suds and lathers

3 – Dove Beauty Bar does not contain sulfates

Oh, I knew this one! #1! I know this because I’ve been buying Dove Beauty Bar for years now, and it comes in an array of varieties and specialties for your skin type. In fact, there are 14 Beauty Bar varieties! Have you tried them all yet?

Ok, that was fun. I knew a lot and had a lot to learn too! Did you know that a recent Dove survey found that 85% of dermatologists report that women are surprised to hear that they should avoid making their skin feel “squeaky clean”*? Or did you know that the iconic Dove Beauty Bar, with its superior and mild formula, was launched in 1957 and has remained essentially unchanged since then! That’s more than 60 years!

There is so much to learn about Dove Beauty Bar and you can find out a lot more here.

What do you think? Were you stumped by any myths?

  1. What a fun article about Dove and totally learned some new stuff about Dove here thanks to you and your truths and lies, too. Thanks and I also happen to love Dove Soap, as well 🙂

  2. When I was younger, Dove was the only soap that I used. I have sensitive skin and my doctor recommended it. It’s still my go to whenever I find myself breaking out.

  3. I remember that we always had Dove in the house growing up. They really do make a great product that cleans well and smells good too!

  4. Hi Tamara, I love all Dove products. They smell so clean and always leave skin feeling good, there is nothing not to like. There’s nothing like a fun game to teach us a thing or two!

  5. I’m not sure I’ve ever used a Dove bar, but it was a definite favorite on our TBB Asks Beauty posts. I’m definitely getting some!

  6. There’s a reason dove now calls it a beauty bar, and that’s because it ain’t soap so they can’t call it soap. This stuff is made up of mostly harmful petro-chemical products and certainly is not good for your skin or overall wellbeing. Everyone should be using real soap with a high superfat %. Dove changed its formula a couple of decades ago when Unilever was changing its approach with the brand. The chemicals in Dove can absorb through skin and cause hormonal issues in men and women. Dove is a classic example of how giant conglomerates can fool you into using their products and thinking they are safe by doing manipulative marketing and using “science” to make you think the matter is settled. Companies can pay for the same studies that are later repeated by scientists that don’t even know who funded the studies they are referencing. Nobody questions how the cheapest “soap” on the market can also be the very best one for your health? There’s a reason McDonalds and dried ramen noodles are cheap and the reason is because they are low quality garbage.
