It seems like right now in society, everyone deals with a lot of stress and everyone is always in pursuit of what they think is happiness. Stress can be a killer. Literally, stress can kill. It takes a toll on our minds, which often takes it out on our bodies before they both give out. It’s a vicious cycle. It is also a hard one to break out of fully. What we really need to do is to be mindful. We need to be mindful of our stress and what is causing it. If we are more mindful of it, we are more apt to find things that relieve stress. And they may even cause happiness! So hey.

Things That Relieve Stress And May Cause Happiness
You need to relieve some of that stress.
Or so they say at every doctor visit, therapy appointment, bad day at work, or after the kids go to bed. JUNK FOOD binge. Let’s face facts. We all know that we need to relax and we all want to be happy, but those are both hard to achieve. Start small and take it 30 seconds at a time. Breathe and be mindful of your mood, just for those 30 seconds. After that, move up to a minute. Try mindfully applying some Stress Relief Lotion. How do you mindfully put on lotion?
Focus on the lotion, think about how it feels, how it looks in your hand, how it smells and how it feels as you rub it into your hands. Are you gently massaging it in or do you use one hand and squeeze the other tight? And there you go. You just mindfully put on lotion for 1 minute.
Allow yourself to be a little more mindful.
It may take time, but you will realize eventually that multitasking is not helping you and that you need to be present in the now. That squeezing your Stress Ball or raking your Sand Garden for two minutes is much more effective than yelling at your kids from the other room while you try to cook dinner and talk on the phone at the same time.
Give yourself a moment!
Seriously. Sometimes, you just need to hit an F-IT Button, to drink some Stress Relief Tea, and to color some darn Mandalas for 5 to 10 minutes. You need to take moments for yourself. I promise you, the world will not fall apart while you write in your Gratitude Journal for 1 minute! (Yes, there is a One Minute Gratitude Journal) However, if you do need to yell and you do need to scream, I highly suggest you invest in a Dammit Doll!
Make it a family affair.
Finding things that relieve stress can be amazing for the whole family and honestly, who doesn’t want happiness in their home? Do you use essential oils? They can really aid in relaxation. I love the Happy Joy blend, and this Elephant Diffuser is ADORABLE! We all know moms don’t have a lot of time, so grab yourself a copy of the One Sentence Happiness Project Journal for Moms and grab this Taming Dragons, Stress Relief for Kids. And let them read while you write!
Be mindful of the little wins!
Remind yourself to try and be non-judgmental towards yourself and to try to take things one moment at a time. One breath at a time. 30 seconds at a time and so on! Place little reminders and things that make you smile around your house, and weave them into your life. And that’s things that relieve stress and might even cause you some happiness. For example, this Silver Wrist Cuff with some wise words from a Headmaster inside, or this bright and colorful Choose Happy Popsocket!
Think of it as a portable happiness reminder! You can also stick some inspiration on your fridge in the form of Happiness Word Magnets or put some happy wisdom on your coffee table in the form of Happy Little Accidents: The Wisdom and Wit of Bob Ross.
Lastly, be mindful of the moment, live in the now, realize no one is perfect, and always be on the lookout for things that relieve stress and may cause happiness!
