There’s Nothing Like New York City for the Holidays with TripAdvisor!

I received complimentary TripAdvisor Attractions to facilitate this post. All thoughts and photos are my own.

Guys, there is NOTHING like New York City for the holidays.

Am I right? And there’s nothing like a little girl exploring the big city for the season. Ah, this annual trip ALWAYS tugs at my heartstrings. I always share about it and you all always love it and this year is no exception. Scarlet took Manhattan like a pro! She saw a Broadway play, hit a few museums, and even went to the top of one of her favorite buildings. More on that soon! Let’s just say that it was the best year yet. So much fun fit into 48 hours. Like NYC pros! This is how we did it.

We used TripAdvisor! You can find shoppable tours and attractions at the click of your mouse and also read reviews. This is the world’s largest provider of tours, activities, and attractions, with more than 56,000 bookable experiences in 2,500 destinations worldwide. And, TripAdvisor Attractions offers something for every kind of traveler. I’m talking everything from walking tours, skip-the-line access, theatre tickets, hot air balloon safaris, and even Everest base camp treks. We booked our attractions in advance on my mobile app and had the tickets in our phones for the entire trip. It was so easy!

Booking attractions in person, after arrival, can be risky. It’s better to book in advance where you can read reviews and see a “big picture” overview of what’s available where you’re going. TripAdvisor removes the friction of the unknown and provides knowledge, reviews, ease, and a wherever/whenever capability. There’s also their low price guarantee!

As you’ll remember from our Mystic Aquarium trip, there are many benefits:

Knowledge: We consolidate the options in one place, so you can easily search for what best suits your needs.
Reviews: We show you thousands of reviews on attractions so you can make informed choices
Ease: We make booking online or on our free mobile app quick and easy – no hotel concierge, no guidebook, no ancient brochures.
Whenever, wherever: You can book a month in advance, a week in advance, a day in advance, or a ‘skip the line’ ticket form the very line you’re standing in.
VIP access: We offer skip-the-line opportunities, behind-the-scenes access, private viewings and more
24/7 customer service: Book with TripAdvisor Attractions and you’ll have 24/7 access to our customer support team
Low price guarantee: If you find a lower price for the same tour or activity within 72 hours of booking, or if you arrive in your destination and find your activity offered at a lower price by our operator, let us know. We’ll refund the price difference

#1 on the list was Empire State Building Tickets!

We decided to buy tickets to the Observatory and the option to skip the line! So you get that unparalleled 360-degree view of New York City, where you can see popular landmarks like Central Park, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty (!), and Times Square. Scarlet got to do the indoor/outdoor observation decks, as well as access to the Dare to Dream exhibit, and the new Sustainability exhibit. With the mobile tickets through TripAdvisor, it’s just simply scanning your phone for direct entry.

#2 on the list was The Museum of Modern Art Admission with Skip-the-Line Access. Scarlet’s mind was blown by “Starry Night.” She actually said, “Whoa.. his actual brush touched that painting?” Indeed it did, Scarlet! Such an experience.

And then #3 on the list! The American Museum of Natural History. We love this museum and visit it at least once a year. The full-day admission tickets let you enjoy all the exhibits and collections, including the Rose Center for Earth and Space. And a Super Saver upgrade includes access to the Hayden Planetarium, giant screen film in 3D or 2D and any special exhibits.

Also not to mention, you can find the lowest price hotel with TripAdvisor. You can find the best prices from 200+ booking sites. With just one click, they compare prices from 200+ hotel booking sites – including the hotel’s own website – to help you find the lowest price on your ideal hotel near your tour or attraction! We especially like hotels with freshly baked cookies!

  1. Good morning Tamara, New York looks dangerously festive. It must be a magical place to visit this time of year. What did we do before booking in advance was an option and as for skipping the queue? Life is too short for standing in queues (unless your English – we seem to thrive on it)… TripAdvisor is a great site and yes I would use it to make bookings.

    xx

  2. You got a great day for the Empire state building. I can’t believe how grown up Scarlet is looking – wow! Natural History Museum was always a favorite for my kids. Worth becoming a member so you can go anytime. Have you taken the kids to the NY Botanical Gardens Train Show?
