Now it’s officially the holiday season.
I’m happy to say we did wait for the end of Thanksgiving dinner to cuddle on the couch with a holiday movie. We waited for the end of Thanksgiving to do any holiday shopping, to decorate our tree, and to bake holiday cookies. Now, all bets are off!
It’s also officially house guest season. We have my parents in town this weekend for Thanksgiving. Next weekend, we’ll stay at their house for a holiday party and then a friend’s wedding in Philly. The weekend after that, they’ll be back here for Scarlet’s performance in The Nutcracker. After that, we’re having our in-laws over to babysit so we can attend a work holiday party. After that, it’s holidays time! That’s why I’m sharing with you my favorite stress-free holiday baking recipe.
It is DELICIOUS. We got everything we needed at Dollar General. For a Pumpkin Surprise/Coffee Bar, I went with my mom to Dollar General and got LIBBY’S® 100% Pure Pumpkin, NESCAFÉ® TASTER’S CHOICE® Instant Coffee, and NESTLÉ® COFFEE-MATE® Liquid Coffee Creamer. We used coupons we found in this link.
Whether or not you’ve been to Dollar General, this is the perfect time to go for all holiday grocery needs! It was one-stop shopping for us to get everything we need for this awesome holiday weekend, and for being together to read, bake, nap, etc.
Every time it’s some dreamy month, like June or August, and I’m lounging in moose shorts or sundresses, or whatever else I lounge in, I always think, “Man, I’m so glad it’s not December.” It’s the sound of birds. It gets me every time. Birds in the morning and crickets at night. It’s van doors sliding easily open, without being iced shut. It’s the lack of sniffles, fevers, barfs, or whatever else that strikes in December. My happiness has less to do with the weather/season, than it does with how equipped I am to cope with it all – through sun and sleet and locusts and hail. I like the loungy ease of life better, is all. Well, I’ve been changing. Isn’t the loungey/cozy/cuddly pace of life in November and December quite wonderful?
Look Ma, I made a movie!
Look Ma, you’re in it!
And that’s what it is for me. I’m going to do the best I can to be fully present this holiday season. I want to eat things. I want to smell things. I want to hear things. I want to FEEL things. I want it to be easier than usual, and I do credit Dollar General for that. Get there and use these coupons and giggle and laugh and enjoy like I did this morning. It really brought in the holiday season for me. No matter how you enjoy the holidays, or which holiday you enjoy, I hope it’s wonderful for you!
