Ten Reasons You’ll LOVE Blogger Bash: Giveaway

I attended Blogger Bash 2016 as an Acorn Ambassador. There’s an AWESOME giveaway at the end of this post!

I’m not going to lie. I was nervous. I’m from New Jersey and then I lived in San Francisco, but NYC is still such a different world from where I come from, and where I’m building my home now. Somewhere along the line, I opened my mind to the possibility that even though I like living in the middle of the woods, down by the river, visiting NYC is pretty much amazing.

Visiting it alone? Scary, but amazing! A hotel alone for a mom of two? Pretty much heaven.

I get nostalgic already, thinking about the little and big leaps I took here and there. I am not a public transportation person and I wanted to leave the city at my own will when it was time to pick up Des. He had a great three days at my parent’s farm, while Scarlet had a great three days with camp and friends. I also loved that I could park my car (ahem, Cassidy’s car), hope for its relative safety, and not have to worry about it for over 48 hours. Then I could leave when the conference was over.

Not that I wanted to leave. Did I mention I was only two blocks from one of my mothers-in-law, and it was her first solo trip to NYC too? New York has that kind of serendipity and magic. We used to say “OINY.” Only in New York. Has that trended yet?

That was my journey, and I hold it close to my heart. Other than my blogger friend Herchel – previously not someone I’d met face-to-face – I really didn’t know a soul other than Acorn and Herchel! I walked in and met so many people. I was beyond excited to meet three of the Acorn Influence lovelies. I have been on this blogging journey for so long, and it has really picked up in strange and wonderful ways throughout the last year. The Acorn staff has been beautifully supportive.

Now enough about me – it’s time to hear about the giveaway and about Blogger Bash 2016!

1. You’ll get to explore NYC! It’s the center of the world. The Big Apple. There’s never enough time to see and do everything you want to do – (like a pop-up museum with a rainbow sprinkles pool) but Blogger Bash keeps you PLENTY entertained!

  1. Carebears, cookies and more! I’m in. I don’t even need 10 reasons. Just a plane ticket next year. Oh and maybe a speedy escape plan from my 4 children. Glad you had so much fun and learned. That is awesome!

  2. I’m so proud of you stepping out into the unknown. I go into the city now and then, but I’ve never lived there, so I don’t have the comfort level that many around me do. Nonetheless, I sent my daughter off taking the train and subway for an internship on the upper east side all summer, so there you go. Now she’s the expert!

    • Oh wow – that would be strange for me! I remember when Cassidy took Scarlet to NYC when she was five and the pictures of that little girl in a red coat in a big city were too much for me! Well, almost too much. I love that they do that annually.

  3. That’s an amazing blogging moment! I’d definitely join any blogging event that I know I can learn so much from. Aside from networking with brands, meeting your blogger friends is the best! And oh Sweet Suite sounds so interesting!

    • It was! That was on a boat so I have memories of lurching my way through it. Such an experience. My kids think I’m the coolest person ever now, even though I’m not!

  4. Blogger Bash looks like so much fun! I enjoyed following along on Social media. Yes, NYC is amazing – I have not heard of OINY – sounds a little like FETCH… (JK!)

  5. I so wish that I would have gone. I live in CT, so it would have been doable. It’s always around my birthday and my family plans a lot so I didn’t want to miss out on that. This year would have been so cool with the Carebears, a childhood favorite.

  6. As you know, I would jump over chairs and run through walls to see you if I were at a blog conference and you were there! One day you will see my intense super human powers come out in person! he he he!

  7. Blogger Bash looks and sounds amazing. I am so incredibly jealous of everyone that got to be there with you! Oh man, Shelby is going crazy over those new Moose Toys, The Twosies! She is obsessed! I, myself, have always been a Carebear girl!

    • The Moose Toys are such a hit. They have a new display at our Target and my kids flipped out. So many great things!
      I’ll always love Care Bears.

  8. Good for you to have the courage to go alone! I’ve only been to one blog conference, and only knew a few people that I had met through social media – but it was SO much fun! It looks like you had an amazing time as well!

    • Totally – bloggers are often fun and open people! I was surprised at how welcoming everyone was. I hope I’m that way next time I’m at a conference in which I know tons of people.

  9. Sounds so exciting. I have not done a conference yet, fear of going alone and not knowing anyone else, but you have shown me no fear is needed. Looks like you really had an amazing time.

    • It’s such a fun one! It’s different than the other one I had been to, which was more like college courses. Blogger Bash is more centered around sponsored posts, which I’m fairly new to, so I loved it!

  10. Oh wow, this looks like such a great conference. I’ve been blogging for 4 years now and am off to my first one in September. I’m so, SO nervous about it!

    • Ooh, awesome! I get surprised at how nervous I get for conferences, but I do. I’ve only been to two and could barely sleep the night before my first. Like.. not at all!

  11. Sounds like you had a great time and it looks like fun. I was contemplating going, but since we just moved and were getting settled into our new house it didn’t work out. My daughter would have flipped if I came home with new shopkins, she’s obsessed.

  12. Looks like you had a lot of fun! OINYC is definitely true. If it isn’t trending, it should be! Is it just me, or was Moose toys just made for you and your family?
