Scarlet, in particular, loves to bake and create. We were creating a Peapod by Stop & Shop order last week and we picked out items we’d need to make a Candy Cabin. So that included some strategic structural planning – as well as icing, pre-made Rice Krispie Treats, Hershey Milk Chocolate XL Bars, Kit Kat King Size Bars, Family Size Kisses, Share Size Reese’s Miniatures Peanut Butter Cups, and Reese’s Piece Peanut Butter Candy. Only the best for our cabin! The thing is, we go big with holidays. All. And we wanted to create unique fun this holiday season.
Take a Break this Holiday Season to Build a Holiday Candy Cabin:
What You Need:
- HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate XL Bars (3)
- KIT KAT® Bar King Size
- Family Size HERSHEY’S KISSES Milk Chocolates
- Share Size REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups
- REESE’S PIECES Candy
- Rice Krispie Treats – homemade or store-bought (8)
- Royal Icing
- Holiday colored sprinkles and candy
What You Do:
1 – Place your Peapod order (seriously, it’s so much fun) or head to your local Ahold store, like Stop & Shop, and get those fun ingredients!
2 – First you’ll want to place your base down – a King Size Kit Kat Bar and draw a square out of Royal Icing where the four walls will stand.
3 – For the house walls, use three HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate XL Bars – two will be unbroken and lengthwise, and the shorter two walls will be an XL bar broken in half to form two walls.
4 – Then assemble the roof. This is not the easiest part, but it’s fun! Put two Rice Krispie Treats together at a time with royal icing and then push them together to resemble a roof.
5 – Then it’s fun time! First add Royal Icing to the walls, add HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bar pieces, and then add another layer of Royal Icing.
6 – Then add “snow” out of white frosting to the walls in between the chocolate bar pieces.
7 – Some fun ideas for the rest include: REESE’S PIECES Candy for windows and doorknobs, and holiday decorations on the roof. Family Size HERSHEY’S KISSES Milk Chocolates on top of the roof and covered in snow or tinsel. Share Size REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups covered in icing and green to be trees, bushes, and hedges. Kellogg Rice Krispie cereal on top of the snow on top of the roof for crunch and decoration. KIT KAT® Bar King Size for driveways, paths, fences, etc.
8 – And then add sprinkle, edible glitter, and green Royal Icing for decorations and grass. The sky is the limit.
Ultimately, the point is to enjoy yourself, and time with family. This is such fun for the whole family but for me, it was largely about letting Scarlet take the creative lead. That was new!
I can’t stress enough how wonderful it is to take a break and enjoy this time with family. What I love about shopping with Peapod is its ease. You can get everything you want in one place. Talk about how to take a break perfectly. Everything I need is right there, and there’s even a candy aisle online to peruse the best Hershey’s products! Making a candy cabin is the perfect way to take a break and make lasting memories with your family. After all, it’s what the holiday season is about!
