That’s ok, though. There’s always next year and the following year, and then forever. You do realize I’ll be blogging forever, right? Right. This is one of my longest relationships to date. Next month, I’ll celebrate eight years of blogging. What a long love affair! I am quite certain I’ve never gone more than three days without blogging in the last eight years, and if I did, which I don’t think I did, but if I did – it was maybe because I was giving birth and then he went to the NICU. Now that I think about it, though, I still blogged then. It’s because it was raw and real, and I always have blogged through my pain. It’s the only way I know. Sometimes, I’m more quiet because there’s less pain. Or maybe it’s not quite ready to come out yet.
I fear I’m going off track, though, because this is not that kind of post! This is about delicious, festive, picture-picture Valentine floats. For you. For me. I told you about Valentine’s Day when I was 9 and then when I was 13. I also told you about Valentine’s Day when I was 18. When I was 14, I was a freshman in high school. There were Valentine-grams in which you could plan ahead to send carnations to another student in the school. It was a fundraiser. I was painfully awkward and searching for myself, and having BANGS, and hating having BANGS, and trying to hide but also trying to assert myself and it was a huge surprise to get three Valentine-grams that year! Thank you, mystery friends and (probably) siblings.
Valentine Floats
Ingredients
2-liter Cherry 7-Up
½ gallon Vanilla Ice Cream
Mini Heart Sprinkles
Fun Straws
Glasses
Directions
1 – Put a scoop of ice cream into each glass.
2 – Pour Cherry 7-Up into each glass. Wait for the foam to go down and add more soda. You can add another small scoop of ice cream if you would like.
3 – Sprinkle the mini hearts all over the top and put a straw in each glass.
4 – Enjoy these fun Valentine Floats!
See? Simple. They’re simple but oh so delicious and festive. There’s something about Valentine-colored food that makes everything taste better. I think the same about heart-shaped food. As you can imagine, this is an AMAZING day for me.
If you want my opinion, I think the object of your affection really wants a Valentine Float, rather than a carnation. If you’re hosting a Valentine’s Day party, because you’re the kind of amazing person who hosts Valentine’s Day parties, consider serving a bunch of Valentine Floats. And if you’re throwing a birthday party around Valentine’s Day, you know what to do.
