Jurassic World Dinosaur Egg Cereal Treats

These rice cereal treats are perfect dinosaur eggs for your Jurassic World, Jurassic Park or just plain dinosaur party! Tasty dinosaur eggs #recipe #party

As you can imagine, everything for us is dinosaurs right now.

That’s why I’m doing two dinosaur posts in a row! “Write what you know,” they say, and that’s just what I’ll do! We have a really funny way of taking our kids to Orlando theme parks and then having them get super obsessed with movies about six months after our visit. And I swear it’s not even related! We stayed at the Art of Animation Resort in a Finding Nemo suite and later that same year, Des got obsessed with Cars. So the next year, we stayed in a Cars suite. Actually, that lasted for two years. (and might wind up being 3) Same thing happened with Scarlet and Harry Potter, and Des with Jurassic World.

We don’t think the dinosaur obsession is going anywhere, anytime soon. I still have mine! I was telling Des that I remember taking an after school dinosaurs class and I got to take home a big box of dinosaur toys after the class. That was a highlight of my life and his eyes lit up just thinking about it. It’s sort of awesome that it all repeats, and now I have a kid obsessed with all things dinosaur. It reminds me how obsessed I still very much am. Someone give me a giant box of dinosaur toys!

In the meantime, I’ll be making these Jurassic World “Dinosaur Egg” Cereal Treats.

What You Need:

3 tablespoons butter
3 cups mini marshmallows
4 cups rice cereal
1 cup white candy melts
1 cup blue candy melts
2 tsp coconut oil, divided

Yields: 15-20 Dinosaur Eggs

What You Do:

1 – Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside

2 – In a medium-sized pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted

3 – Remove melted marshmallow from heat and add rice cereal – fold until cereal and marshmallow mixture are thoroughly combined

4 – Mold the cereal treats into egg shapes, about 2 inches in length and 1 in width (at its thickest part). Place carefully on lined baking sheet

5 – Place each of your candy melts in microwave safe bowls. For each bowl, add 1 tsp of coconut oil

6 – Microwave them in 30-second intervals or until completely melted

7 – Pour melted white candy in a larger bowl. Then, pour the melted blue candy

8 – Using a spoon, carefully fold the two colors into one another to create a marbled look

9 – With the help of a fork, dip each of your egg-shaped cereal treats into the melted candy and place back onto your lined baking sheet

10 – Place in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. Enjoy!

So yeah – that unicorn craze thing isn’t really dying down, now or ever, and it’s pretty much lifelong for me.

These actually made me squeal out loud when I first saw them. I made unicorn rice krispies treats awhile back, but those were more ooey, gooey, melt in your mouth and they were for a birthday party. These are so cute and pretty that you almost don’t want to eat them, but of course you do want to eat them. I mean, how could you not want to eat them?

Horns and all. You DO want to eat them, right?? Yeah, me too.
