Everyone, I have an announcement. This recipe. THIS RECIPE is so good!

I made it years for a kindergarten barbecue we were throwing to meet some new families in our neighborhood, and I had the bowl covered on the kitchen table. I came into the kitchen after putting Des to bed that night, and Cassidy and Scarlet had looked up at me guiltily. They had NOT resisted snacking on my awesome party mix. This is not just any party mix. It’s simple and delicious. It requires a little cooking, but it’s the kind that makes your whole house smell divine.

Perhaps I need to give you a little history on my love for M&Ms. It all started with my father’s father – my Grandpa Ben. Some grandfathers hide dollars or quarters in the palm of their hands to gift to their grandchildren, but my grandfather always had a bag of M&Ms for my sister and me. As I was growing up, I found a deep love for M&Ms and all of the new flavors they would come out with over the years. I can probably tell you each and every one! When I found out that M&Ms was making caramel fun again, you could say I was excited! I went right to the store.

I’m all about the caramel M&Ms and they’re great in this recipe.

My recipe features a homemade caramel sauce, coated over a mixture of sweet and salty snacks.

  1. Popcorn is my jam seat and crunchy caramel popcorn mix sounds a little dangerous to me, but I like a little danger in my snacks. A Kindergarten bbq sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to meet other parents. I love M&Ms too, I want personalized M&Ms at my weeding.

  2. I LOVE popcorn. when I was a kid, we made a very similar recipe and made it into cake. My friend’s mom would make it every year for my bday. Hers was better than my mom’s because she used tons of marshmallow fluff and twice as many M&Ms.

  3. Oh my goodness – sweet and salty – the perfect combo! I always put m&m’s in my popcorn at the movies – but this definitely takes it up a notch!
