The packaging has changed, but one thing that hasn’t changed for me is seeing Luvs diapers in my home! My parents always used them for the five of us, and my mom kept the boxes for decades to store baby clothes. I can still picture them!

Spring is here (or still on its way if you live in New England like I do) and we’re doing renovations on our house. It’s so exciting that I can’t stop thinking about it and grinning from ear to ear. That said, it’s a true question whether we’re going to add a nursery to our house. Scarlet and Des share a room and are about ready to branch off. Des stopped sleeping in a crib and will outgrow his toddler bed soon. Their bedroom doesn’t have room for another bed, so we’re going to give him a whole new room. While we’re at it, we might be giving ourselves a whole new master suite and a nursery/future reading room for all.
I haven’t put together a nursery in ages, and I think it’s pretty cool that it will all be different if/when it happens again. My mom helped us last time and this time, we would have two other helpers – Scarlet and Des. I think about it pretty much every day, and I thought I’d share some spring nursery essentials from this seasoned mom. Whether you’re building a nursery from scratch, decorating or redecorating one, or just want to get your nursery ready for spring, are are five nursery essentials.

1 – A simple crib. We searched for a crib that would be simple in design, to match anything, and that could convert into a toddler bed. We have used it twice now, although it won’t be used again. What’s important is to have something safe.
2 – A glider or rocking chair. Like with the crib, we’ve used one for both kids. Unlike the crib, we will re-use it. I still use it to read to my children! Oh, the warm nights we have spent in the glider! I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

3 – A diaper pail. This is a handy place to toss dirty diapers, and there are several designed to seal off odors and keep the baby’s nursery sanitary and clean for the upcoming warmer days! It saves you time running to the trash.
4 – Spring clothes for your baby, and a clothes hamper, AND a tidy way to arrange the clothes. I really like the open baskets, and storage cubes in the closest. That has served us well over the years!
5 – Diapers and diapering supplies. A diaper changing station is pretty important. We have a changing table over and under open shelving, and also above a chest of drawers. That way we can store diapers in several sizes (they outgrow them fast), as well as necessary creams, lotions, hand sanitizer, and other items. We have Luvs – the official diaper of experienced moms.

My sister-in-law is due any day and had a sprinkle last month. So couldn’t agree more that things have changed over the last few years in this department. I will say while I had fun shopping for her and the new addition, I am more than happy to do it for them, but am glad it is behind us at this point in all honesty. But you shared a great list here and definitely a huge help to those in need 😉
Yes, it never ends with my family and friends! And my career! Nurseries, nurseries, everywhere!
I haven’t done a nursery in quite some time and I won’t be doing one either. I’m done with that department. You have some great tips here, perfect for those looking into getting into their nursery together.
I’m still not sure if we’ll need one or not. We are renovating our house, although not for the sake of a third baby. (although Cassidy has his fingers crossed..)
Oh my goodness – loving the baby photos. Hopefully, I will be a grandma someday and be able to hold little ones like these again soon! They have really improved the diapers over the years!
Same here! Well I’m in the middle because a third baby is still possible, but I also dream about my little ones one day growing up and having kids!
Right now being an aunt is pretty sweet!
Aww…babies! My favorite. My best friend’s daughter is having twin boys in three months, and they’re just starting the nursery. So much fun!
Twin boys! How fun!
Good tips, Tamara. I love the baby photos and will pass this along to a family member who just had a baby. 🙂
Aww! Thanks! The photos are so much fun for me.
Thank you for the Coupon on Luvs! I really need to go grab some for a diaper cake I am making for a baby shower in a couple weeks. It is crunch time. I will also pass this along to a few friends who are going to this shower to give them some ideas on what to buy.
Oh my goodness! These photos are some of the cutest I have seen. Just adorable! So cute, they make me miss my girls being babies, and I never say that. Happy to pass along your coupon link. I remember diapers being so expensive. Any amount saved is a good thing.
My wife and I are done having kids, and are enjoying our time now as grand-parents. I do have a couple of
friends that are expecting. I will send your site to them for ideas. I wish we would have had something along this
line back 21 years ago when our youngest child was born
A diaper pail is very important for sure. Cut clothes and great picture here by the way. I miss those days! Seems like yesterday and yet my girl is now almost 16!!
I love seeing these sweet baby pictures. One thing I’m so glad we did was to buy a crib that converts into a headboard and foot board because my son never slept in it. At least when it was a crib. Love when you can get a bargain on diapers!
Love seeing all the sweet baby pictures. The one thing I’m happy that I bought was a four in one crib. He never slept in his crib as a baby so he uses it now as a grown kid. Nobody could find a bargain on diapers.
I live on my glider. I am sitting there all the time nursing my baby, day and night. I never realize the value of the diaper pail until I started using just a regular garbage can for the diapers… OMG the smell!!! Great list for new moms!
Really great list! I think nurseries have got to be the most fun of rooms to decorate. So many fun options. I could scroll Pinterest for days, lol.
Oh dear .. is there anything cuter than baby pictures! I was smiling from ear to ear. My daughter just had a baby .. so I’ll be passing your post along to her .. it’s such a wonderful list for moms. Plus .. my husband and I are buying all of the diapers for the new little one for the first year .. so any savings is welcome indeed!
I have a pregnant friend, and I will have to share this with her. I am finished with nurseries. My boys are into race car beds and the such now!
A rocking chair is definitely something I wish I had for the nursery. We’re pretty much eye-to-eye with the other necessities but I hadn’t picked up a chair because a lot of them were so pricey. This is a very good (and accurate!) list.
ALL THESE BABY PICTURES!! WHAAAAAA!!! I want time to slow down. I feel like time is flying and I just want my kiddos to slowdown and stay little for awhile.
XO
I know! Why do they refuse to do that???
