Show Your Super Hero Allegiance: Batman v Superman.

As you most definitely know, we’re a super hero family.

As a kid, I was once most drawn to Superman™ – I loved his vivid red and blue costume, and the way he could fly and save lives. As an adult, I’ve been most drawn to Batman™ – I love his complex storylines and the amazing villains he fights & wins.

Now that we have kids, Des has found himself drawn to Superman…or has he? And Scarlet has been watching the Batman: The Animated Series and can’t wait for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She can read now, and is a free-thinker, wondering about all the pros and cons to being, or just loving, Superman or Batman. She is hooked on the new Supergirl TV series, so I’ve been wondering which super hero she will show her allegiance to, in the long run! Whom do you think it will be..?

Sometimes I even doubt my own allegiance! A childhood full of wonder and Superman movies, and tying a red towel (cape) around my neck before I leaped off the top bunk bed. And there’s the way seeing those familiar red and blue patterns catches my eye all of the time now, because of what it does to Des. And yet, I can’t escape my complete love of the Joker and my first favorite – Two-Face, and the way the newer Batman movies make you think so much about what makes someone a hero.

Better yet, what makes someone a super hero?

We are so lucky because we got a reversible cape. It’s one side Superman and one side Batman. For children who can’t necessarily choose just one. Or for kids who are clear on their allegiance, but they share a cape with their siblings! Or there are children who want to be Superman one day, and Batman the next. All of this is ok with me. When pressed to choose..

Scarlet made her choice known.

Then Des did too.

The next battle was breakfast cereal! Personally, I chose the Honey Nut Cheerios-Specially marked comic book edition, because that’s how I roll. For Scarlet and Des, I gave them two options: Superman™ Caramel Crunch OR Batman™ Chocolate Strawberry cereal. Which would it be? These are tough and delicious decisions.. Which would YOU choose?

Here are the verdicts.. Scarlet chose this:

And Des chose this:
