Sexy is Good and Tacky is Bad – Here’s Why!

Sexy is Good and Tacky is Bad – Here’s Why! Let's talk about fall fashion and how to keep it real for fall in 2020.

Sexy is Good and Tacky is Bad – Here’s Why!:

From a large sweater that flashes a bit of shoulder, to a little kiss of skin around the ankles, to a slinky high-heeled walk, or flawless makeup, sexiness comes down not to what you’re wearing, but how you wear it. Sexy dressing starts and ends with your own self-image. Whether you like to wear your hair traditionally long, or whether you can pull off a cute short cut, it’s not even about the hair either – it’s about how others see you rocking what you have.

If you are a fan of a traditionally sexy-dressed look, I can help you with a few pointers:

  • When it comes to wearing a skirt, try a form-fitting one that shows off your curves in all the right place, but which is still appropriate for work.

  • When wearing a floaty, flirty dress, try one that looks equally good from the front and the back.

  • Not a fan of frills? Make a boyish outfit more feminine by wearing a sexy dress with a boyfriend blazer.

  • Keen to show some skin, but feeling shy? Try a cowl neck. It is soft and floaty to help you show off your neck, but offers enough fabric to prevent you from feeling exposed.

Use these tips to shake up your daily wardrobe, and make sure you get noticed without having to pull out all the stops!

It’s the Little Things:

Now let’s get to the details. No matter what you decide to wear, make sure that you wear the right size. Clothing that is too big or too small qualifies as ill-fitting, and has a way of making people notice all the wrong things about you. If you are unsure of what your size is, put in the time and have you clothing professionally fit by a sales person who knows what they’re doing. That will save you a lot of time and stress when you start committing to a new wardrobe.

Is It Suitable?

We’ve all experienced that moment of getting dressed for an event, and catching yourself wondering if we’ve gone too far with the outfit. This is a massive red flag. If you find yourself questioning your wardrobe choices, chances are that you’re completely right. This question is often accompanied by “am I too old to be wearing this?” – I’ll get to that in a bit.

Balance the Scales:

Remember to always create balance between dressing sexy and more demurely across the top and bottom halves of your body. It not only creates visual interest, but prevents you from looking dowdy on one end of the scale, or trashy on the other.
If you stick to this rule of balance, your outfit will always be age-appropriate. Any body type, age and shape can adapt to this system. It provides enough structure to help you create a successful outfit, and can help you to figure out what looks good on you in the long term. Whatever you’re showing off on your top half, should be balanced by more coverage on the bottom, and vice versa.
