When having a newborn, it’s so easy to lose yourself in the sleeplessness and hustle and bustle. I’m proud to be partnering with California Psychics for this blog post, discussing self-care routines and rituals, and spirituality, that can help with these first few months of having a baby.

You see, California Psychics is here to help you unleash your full potential, and live a plentiful and inspired life. So of course, they can help you with your many transitions, whether it’s family or love; career or pets, and even having a newborn. And that’s because having a newborn can be such a time of stress, transition and turmoil, with the postpartum feelings, the hormones, the sleeplessness, and the healing. It’s a hard time to focus on YOU and what you need. Psychic readings have helped me throughout this whole process of figuring out career and family stuff during the last few years, so why wouldn’t they help now? It’s important more than ever to get back your sense of yourself, and to find the routines and rituals that can help.
Self Care Routines and Rituals With a Newborn:
A newborn brings both joy and stress, and maybe more than you’ll ever feel at any other time. It’s easy for me to get overwhelmed, especially with a newborn and a toddler (and two tweens). The thing is, the baby seems to always need something, and so do I, it seems. It’s important to take care of myself as well.
1 – Remember that your needs matter:
As Psychic Anasela told me, I need to create a routine of self-care. And it can start small, since I’m still nursing around the clock and not sleeping a lot. However, if I take fresh air space (or quiet home space) for myself, and make it a regular ritual/routine, eventually it gets to be more high quality. And, my surroundings will matter less, because I will have created a safe space for myself that can be accessed almost anywhere. And yes, even with babies crying nearby.
2 – Remember to eat well and exercise:
Sometimes when you have a newborn, you have to remember to eat… in general. I recently joined a few online food delivery companies which have wonderful intro coupon codes and promotions. This has been helpful in getting some nice healthy salads prepared for me! Since I’m nursing, good nutrition helps me with my energy and mood. I’ve been consuming more protein, iron, and omega-3s. I’ve been limiting my sugar and caffeine intake. Exercise has to start slowly, but I’m six weeks now, so I go on walks with both babies often. And as Psychic Anasela told me, eventually going on walks by myself will be great for my spirit.
3 – Keep your connection with your partner:
I wrote about my concerns in this post about asking Psychic Lucy about my relationship with my husband after the baby. We have had trouble in the past with connecting soon after a new baby. It’s important to be a team and to be in this together. It is super hard for us to focus on one another with four kids of varying ages, but it’s what keeps our family strong. It can be as small as taking five minutes before bed to talk about our day. He will always set aside a nice plate of dinner for me, and I make sure that when I can, I do little things he mostly does himself, to take the load off of him. And that can be finally getting to that laundry pile, doing a little grocery shopping (I usually do online pickup for that), or even making the bed. We might delegate light baby care to the older kids, just to have time to talk.
4 – Enjoy being outdoors:
Fresh air and sunshine can really lift your mood, and also ground you when you need it. We have a double stroller that I still need to learn how to use, but my big goal is to babywear Sawyer while pushing Rider in a stroller. Soon. Rider is a bit of a runner, so he needs the stroller. Scarlet and Des used to walk next to me holding my hand! Another favorite activity is lying in the hammocks with a magazine. And while I don’t get as much from gardening as Cassidy does, I do absolutely love to watch him garden.
5 – Give your spirit a refresh:
This is super important and what Psychic Anasela was counseling me on, using a tarot card reading. It’s about finding your inner peace and taking the time to find it DAILY. This can be meditation, prayer, quiet reflection, journaling, sitting with nature, or more. It’s important to record your inner self as you go through a major life change. And I was calling her with a two-week-old. I also think it’s important for me to get a psychic reading regularly as part of my routine. California Psychics uses a wonderful array of tools to help you discover your best self. This could be no tools at all, and just a reading, as well as Astrology, Numerology, Crystals, Oracle Cards, Runes, I-Ching, Pendulum, and more. You can as well dive deep into angelic numerology, which is an inseparable part of numerology. It shows the hidden messages behind your frequently seen numbers. It is said that if you are seeing certain number sequences more often in daily life, such as looking at the clock, car plates, or restaurant bills, your angels are trying to communicate a message through them. If you want to decode the meaning behind them you can read Kyle Gray’s “Angel Numbers: The Message and Meaning Behind 11:11 and Other Number Sequences” or search for the specific sequence you are seeing on the numerology websites. For instance, if 000 is occurring in your life, again and again, search for the 000 angel number meaning, and see the hidden message behind it. These unconventional tools, as well as deep revelations and insightful expert guidance can help you get where you’re looking to go.
A ritual is a ceremony and a conscious act – no matter how big or small – that marks the importance of something in your life. Whether that’s to welcome something in (a baby, sleep, good nutrition, sleep, peace, etc.), or let something go. These rituals symbolize the importance of our intentions, and they give us meaning beyond passing thoughts. I like to think about the parallel qualities of routines and rituals, and how I can fit rituals into my routine. Whether that’s getting a nice bath and lighting a candle, getting time alone to meditate or lie in the hammock, or doing vows or affirmations. Or even going for a drive, with both babies, and taking the time to listen to music and daydream. I’m really excited to learn more about what I can do, and how California Psychics can help me. California Psychics is light and refreshing, anchored in goodness, and also committed to inspiring us to feel connected, optimistic and fulfilled. I love that it’s discreet, confidential, and guaranteed by a promise you can trust. Plus, flexible, adaptable, and open 24/7 to meet your needs!
