The organization thought his litter might be “Mini-Huskies” – Husky/Pomeranians or some sort of Husky mixes. Soon after we got him, we realized there was nothing Husky about him. Nothing! And not only that, but his body grew longer rather than taller. He looked like a sure Corgi for awhile and then changed again. We had some suspicions but ran a DNA test that revealed all sorts of surprises! It turns out that our “Mini Husky” was largely Chihuahua, as well as Pomeranian and Shepherd. What an unlikely combo! No matter what he is, we love him BIG!
I love seeing people’s surprised faces when I describe what he is. I was on a work trip this weekend at an indoor water park resort and I was telling the general manager what kind of dog I have. He said, “I have to see a photo of him because that doesn’t sound promising!” Then I showed him a photo and even he had to admit that Astro is a fine looking dog! He’s interesting!
Nutrition For Your Small Dog Breeds:
That said, it’s not about how he looks – irresistibly cute or not – but it’s about his health and happiness! Did you know that there are products specifically for small dog breeds? We use CORE RawRev products for a balanced and healthy lifestyle. There are wonderful products in the Wellness CORE® line:
- CORE RawRev Small Breed (kibble+, dry food with 100% freeze dried meat)
Wellness CORE Mini Meals (wet food)
Wellness CORE Petite Treats (treats)
You can mix and match the foods and treats based on your dog, although Astro isn’t picky at all! We’ve used Wellness CORE for years now – and trust this family of grain-free, natural pet food, treats, and toppers. They’re big on protein and flavor. I want to give Astro a meal that’s both tasty and healthy, just like I do for myself and my kids! The thing is, though, he’s less picky!
CORE RawRev products have great ingredients – like turkey, chicken, lamb, beef, and salmon. There’s a careful balance of natural, quality ingredients in every tasty CORE bite.
And what’s the result, you ask? A wonderfully nutrient-dense meal your small dog breeds can sink their teeth into, as Astro demonstrates above. One of my dogs is a REAL Husky mix, and one was thought to be a mini Husky but is actually largely Chihuahua and Pomeranian (with a German Shepherd head – chew on that). So it makes sense that my dogs would thrive off of different types of food. I LOVE that there’s a whole line of food just for my little Astro. My lovable, huggable, super irresistible, interesting, hungry, and perfect little dog! I totally love shopping for him!
