2 – DON’T overthink your holiday gifting and wind up as a stress ball. This causes paralysis. This causes no gift at all! Ok, maybe I’m speaking from personal experience only and you don’t have this problem. That said, the answer is always simpler than I think it will be. When I start to do something else and take my mind off of it, the best ideas come to me then.

3 – DO have fun with wrapping. Presentation is key! We save gift bags and tissue paper from birthday presents for the kids.

4 – DON’T wait until the last minute. (easier said than done)

5 – DO remember the card or gift tag. I love using the gift of words to express myself.

6 – DON’T pick a gift card when you have better choices.

7 – DO some cyberstalking. Admit it – it’s fun. People keep public wish lists on the Internet, as well as on social media. And just going back on news feeds can teach you so much about what someone wants and needs.

8 – DON’T skip creativity. Make the gift an event! Send him on a scavenger hunt or hide a bigger present in another present and wait for the fun when they discover that the one they’re exclaiming over is not even the “real gift.” I love that.

9 – DO think about their past. My husband got me a video game system I had had as a child and it brought back so many happy memories. As a photographer, I think framing photos or using photos for gifts can also be really powerful for gifts.
