For one, I mean readers who love to read! That’s many of you. For another thing, I mean MY readers. The ones I know and love and the new ones. Welcome. You will LOVE this book. It will punch you in the gut and squeeze your heart, but in the nicest ways possible. You will read it and you will Tweet it and the author, Tracey Garvis Graves, will Tweet back at you because she’s awesome like that. And you might text your mom and sister at 11pm at night and tell them that when they come visit this weekend? One of them is DEFINITELY borrowing that book from you.
People, people, how often do books stay with me long into the night and into the following days and years? It used to happen more often, but life is busier these days. With kids and pets and work and friends and life goals, I don’t always lie back in the spring grass and read a book all day. That said, that IS work and life goals and a big part of my travel adventures. So there’s that.
My Spring Book Review: The Girl He Used To Know:
I can’t give a book review without giving some plot out, but from what I’ve seen, this book hits different people in the feels for different reasons. And I don’t even want to get into one major plot point because it happens at the end and I did NOT see it coming – even though the chapters all tell the months, years and the locations. This chapter gives the month, year, location and DAY. That matters. Aside from that, the book has a main character with an Autism spectrum disorder and a generalized anxiety disorder. Something strange or not so strange?
I’m not on the spectrum and my kids aren’t, but anxiety is no stranger of mine. Also she is so REAL and imperfect and a true champion. The very heart of the story contains an extremely captivating, breathless love story. If you’re going for the love story, you’re in luck. I have my own long and strange (and still unraveling) love story, and we had heartbroken time apart as well, in which we had to learn to live apart from each other – in order to live with each other again.
Tracey Garvis Graves is a New York Times Bestselling Author. The Girl He Used To Know is about Annika Rose and Jonathan. They meet at the University of Illinois in the Chess Club and fall unconditionally in love. The book has a tender love affair that picks up ten years since the characters have spoken or seen each other. Talk about starting with a bang! Oh, my heart! The book introduces unforeseen tragedies (more than one.. but no spoilers) and introduces you to characters you will LOVE! And oh, to get to know more of Annika’s family. Sigh. The book goes back and forth between ten years ago and a present day in which she’s a librarian and he’s a Wall Street whiz recovering from a recent divorce. Their paths cross again, and.. So much.
I read the book in the grass, on the couch, in bed, at the dinner table (sorry kids) and I packed it for fun and warm spring activities. I can’t wait to read more from the author. And I can’t wait to read this book again and fall in love with Annika and Jonathan (and Janice) all over again.
Loved talking about this book today! Loved it so much! Make sure you pick up The Girl He Used To Know by Tracey Garvis Graves here! It goes on sale April 2nd! And you can pre-order it now!
