Vacations can be really expensive and so can travel in general. And international travel is particularly expensive. Whether you’re purchasing plane tickets, or paying crazy gas prices for a road trip, the dollars add up simply to get to your destination. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way! There are so many great international travel spots that you would be surprised that you can visit on a budget. Although international airfare tends to be a little more expensive, all in all you will still save a ton of money with such an affordable destination spot. Here are some of the most affordable international travel destinations that you can take advantage of in 2020!

Peru:

Peru can be extremely affordable when it comes to vacationing there. You may pay a little more up front for airfare but upon arrival, you will spend next to nothing for a fantastic vacation. You can find rooms to stay in for anywhere from $8-$10 and meals can be anywhere from $2-$5 per person. It’s truly incredible how affordable things are there, actually.

Greece:

Oh my goodness, Greece is SUCH a beautiful country. Even if it was not an affordable trip I would still recommend it because the sights there are just so beautiful and breathtaking, you will not believe it. Traveling in Greece can be so affordable if you find the right places. You can find hostels or budget hotels for as low as $10-$20 per night, food can be as low as $5-$15 depending on what you’re having, and activities such as museums average around $10-$12.

Guatemala:

Guatemala is such an incredible country. There is so much to do whether you want to soak up the sun on the Caribbean beaches, or hike up in the mountains, you are bound to find something that you love. As far as travel expenses, Guatemala can be extremely affordable as long as you look to find the right accommodations for your needs. You can get away with around $25-$30 per day per person for accommodations, travel, food, and activities combined.

Jamaica:

I know you are probably surprised to see Jamaica on this list but hear me out. If you are looking for a beautiful vacation destination I would highly recommend visiting Kingston in Jamaica. Here you will experience exactly what Jamaica is about. You will see the beautiful beaches and waters and have the chance to hear the beautiful reggae music of Jamaica. Here you can also visit the Peter Tosh Museum, the Bob Marley Museum, and the Jamaica Music Museum. And this trip will be a fairly affordable destination because it is not in the most popular and expensive areas of Jamaica that you typically see people visit on cruises and such.

Bali, Indonesia:

Bali is known as the Island of the Gods and it has absolutely beautiful beaches, waters, and architecture. Also, Bali can be fairly affordable when it comes to international travel. The cost of activities, such as admission to Bali Barat National Park, averages around $10-$15 and the average cost of hotel rooms ranges from $100-$150 per night.

Barcelona, Spain:

Barcelona is absolutely beautiful with some of the most amazing architecture and museums in the world, as well as beautiful sunsets and beaches. You’ll enjoy the weather, and it makes for a fantastic vacation spot. On top of the beauty of this amazing country, it is ranked as one of the most affordable countries in Europe.

Montreal, Canada:

Montreal is such a beautiful place because it is so romantic and rich in French culture. If you are looking to get the full effect of what it’s like in Canada, Montreal is the place to go. There is so much beautiful art, architecture, and culture in Montreal, and the food is absolutely amazing. Dining and activities are very affordable there, making it a great budget international travel spot.

Nicaragua:

Nicaragua has been ranked as one of the top places in the world to retire because it is absolutely beautiful and truly is like visiting a paradise. With the beautiful sights and Spanish architecture, this is not a place you want to miss out on. Nicaragua is also very budget-friendly when it comes to traveling around the area. You can find Hostel dorms to stay in for around $5 a night and food is so incredibly cheap, you can get away with spending around $10-$15 per person per DAY on food.

International travel can be intimidating with having to worry about airfare and exchange rates and all those details. However, international travel does not have to be crazy expensive.
