I’m stepping in here REALLY quickly today to share two recipes I whipped up for the weekend. Despicable Me 3 came out last weekend and while I still haven’t seen 1 & 2, nor have I seen any Minions movies, my kids are huge fans of all of the movies.

I also found it funny that I said I “whipped these up” as if anything remotely crafty or domestic comes easily for me. As if I don’t do such things without making a huge mess and swearing through the whole thing. That said, it’s “for the children”, isn’t it? So my heart is there and things get done. So now I can stop laughing at myself. I sincerely hope you had a great July 4th, and that you’re still having a great one! That’s right! Stay up until midnight and enjoy those fireworks. You can even light them off! Only if it’s legal where you live, AND, you aren’t doing it near any potential scared dogs/sleeping babies.

Since you can only do one recipe card per blog post, I put one in a handy-dandy Yummly card, and then wrote out the recipe for the second one. If only I could whip out recipes as easily as I whip out tons of words! Ah well – still pretty!

Ingredients:
Twinkies
Black, Yellow and Blue Candy Melts (you can also used white chocolate that you color with food dye)
Candy Eyeballs
Crisco or Candy Melts E-Z Thin
Candy Melts Decorating Tips
Decorating Bags or Ziploc Bags
Directions:
- Open the box of Twinkies and unwrap them. Set aside. (try not to eat them all at once)
- Pour the yellow candy melts into a small measuring cup or bowl. Follow the package directions for melting. Use E-Z Thin (or a bit of Crisco) to thin out the candy melts. Add a small amount at a time. You want your candy melts to be a consistency that you can dip your Twinkies into.
- Dip one end of your Twinkie into the melted yellow candy melts – coat half of it. Pull the Twinkie out of the candy melts and allow some of the excess candy to drip off. Place the Twinkie on a wire cooling rack. After the excess has dripped off, move it to a sheet of wax paper to dry.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the blue candy melts.
- Repeat step 2 with the black candy melts.
- Pour the black candy melts into a decorating bag or Ziploc bag with the smallest candy melts decorating tip attached. Pipe black lines onto your Minion.
- If you would like to add gray to the goggles, add white candy melts to another batch of black candy melts and prepare a second decorating bag.
- Pipe circles of black (or gray if you make a batch) onto the black lines.
- While the candy melts are still wet, add the candy eyes.
- Pipe on some fun faces with the black candy melts and add buttons onto their overalls.
You could also add some hair! Have fun with these and let your little ones help.

These are absolutely adorable and perfect for the opening weekend of Despucable Me 3! I am going to try both for my girls soon. Thanks 😉
These are super cute! Anneliese just recently discovered the Minions and all things Despicable Me. She’s a BIG fan 🙂
Those are adorable! Loving minion everything right now! I have not seen the movie yet either, but plan to soon!
Those are so cute!
Madison would LOVE these! She’s a huge fan of Despicable Me and I promised that we’ll see it when we get to Disney Springs. It’s difficult to say which is my favorite since I love both Twinkies and OREOs.
Holy cuteness, Tamara! These are ADORABLE!!!
About once a year I get a twinkie craving. These are adorable! I want to see the movie and I’m trying to talk one of the boys into going with me!
I love that! Once a year!
Eee, these are so cute! I still haven’t seen Despicable Me yet either, despite it playing (in Spanish) on several bus rides when we backpacked around South America. We did watch one of the Minions movies with Eve, and she loved it, and she would love these snacks 🙂
So darn adorable! We love minions.
