Make Your Own Greenhouse Starter Kit With Kids!

Make your own Greenhouse Starter Kit with kids!

Make Your Own Greenhouse Starter Kit With Kids! This is a really fun activity to do with kids, and to get them started in gardening.

Luckily for me, the kids have inherited Cassidy’s green thumb.

I’m still the odd woman out, but even I can appreciate this fun starter kit. It’s an easy craft that has awesome results too. It will have your kids running every morning to see how much growth is in their little greenhouses. Cassidy has a garden, or two, that are really works of art. Like, I think they’re professional quality and I always wonder when the Garden Committee is going to schedule us on their Garden Tour! That said, it’s fun for the family to also work on something a little smaller and less ambitious, like this awesome project. I promise it keeps them interested.

There are so many fun things to learn out there, like what material takes the longest to decompose, among many other Earth Day and spring projects for kids.

What You Do:

1 – First, at the bottom of each roll, make two ¾ inch cuts across from each, and then one cut in the center of each of the halves you created. So basically, you divide the bottom of each roll into four equal parts.

2 – Then, fold the 4 flaps as you would fold the flaps of a moving box.

3 – Fill each paper roll with potting soil and align them in your plastic container.

8 – Put your greenhouse seed starter near a light source to allow it to grow until your garden is ready to receive the plants. (You can close the lid to create condensation)

9 – Lastly, when you’re ready to move your seedlings outdoors, simply remove from container and unfold the bottom and plant the whole thing in the ground. The cardboard will decompose into the soil.

*DON’T FORGET TO WATER THEM REGULARLY!

NOTE: I use a piece of brown scrap packing paper (from Amazon deliveries) to help stabilize the paper rolls in the container. You could also use newspaper or any recycled paper of your choosing.
