Last Minute Summer Bucket List In/Near Boston with Upparent

It’s our family adventure to make a Last Minute Summer Bucket List. That’s why we rely on Upparent to be the online destination for parents seeking inspiration from other parents. I’m proud to be partnered with Upparent for this blog post.

Upparent Partner Upparent is the online destination for parents seeking inspiration from other parents and it's helped us build our last minute bucket list!

In the Boston area, school doesn’t start until September – after Labor Day! That’s why it’s always a priority of mine to write a Last Minute, Late Summer Bucket List. I find that August is when I do the most adventurous things, like go to comic conventions (thanks, Boston!) and that’s when I went to Alaska. Our favorite summer camp gets out in early August, leaving over three weeks of unchartered, pure fun, family adventures. I’ve always loved that this is the GREATEST time to explore the Boston area. I have so many happy memories of summers past in the Boston area. And we have many adventures ahead.

Recently, we discovered Upparent, and that was a big summer changer for us. It’s an exciting new startup that is helping to gather the many conversations parents are having with one another into one place. That way we can all share family-friendly recommendations about things to do, places to go, products to try, and of course, adventures to have! We are all about local family fun, and Upparent is the online destination for parents seeking inspiration from other parents.

I love to share things like local events and activities.

We love that Upparent is easy to use and has family-friendly content that can be searched and saved to make it more personalized and relevant. The personal recommendations on the site are gathered into convenient lists and polls, so that the content is reader-friendly and easy to browse. This is a dynamic resource for parents, by parents, and with content that is ever evolving as community members (like me) add their own recommendations, vote, and comment on favorites.

My kids have the “Boston Bug” or the “Big City Bug” lately, so we built a last minute summer bucket list based on events and activities in and near Boston. In fact, I proudly contributed to the Boston Summer Bucket List for Family Fun with my own must-do activity for families this summer, and beyond. When you think beyond the bucket list, Upparent has you covered on a number of topics! If you’re unsure what to give for a birthday present, they have lists of great gift ideas by age and theme. And since back to school is inevitable, Upparent’s “Heads Up” lists help sneak some fun into your back-to-school routine.

I’ll also be checking the site for great lunch box ideas and the best lunch packing supplies. And don’t even get me started on the holidays! This is a resource to turn to for almost anything you can think of – and you can share your own wisdom.

Suffice it to say, what a wonderful resource to have all year long. Here’s our late summer bucket list:

1 – Amusement park. There are a ton of wonderful ones in the New England area. And they all have their perks. We can’t wait for our trip in late August to ride some roller coasters and ferris wheels together. What fun that will be!

2 – Children’s museum. In fact, I wrote about that in the Boston Summer Bucket List for Family Fun.

3 – Get on a boat. Boston is full of some fun rides and tours. One of my kids really wants to go whale watching, and the other is afraid of sea sickness. Fear not, little one, for Upparent has boat ride ideas for all speeds and ages.

4 – Comic Convention. We went to a big one last year and this year it will have SO MANY actors we love. Can’t wait!

5 – See music outside. I think this is a summer staple. We did it last year and we’ll do it this year!

  1. Same here as my kids don’t go back to school until after Labor Day. So we are enjoying all that we still can as this summer is far from over just yet still. And love your list as a few are still on our list, as well 🙂

  2. It seems that parents are doing more gatherings with the other parents and the kids in their kids classes. It wasn’t like that when I was a kid at all.

  3. I wish we lived next to Boston. Summer in the desert is such a different experience, but Fall is when the real partying happens 🙂

  4. Yay for summer bucket lists! As you know I have yet to make it to Boston but have so many friends and a little family there!! I’ve heard so many great things, and now I need to keep the list for reference!
