Starlink Battle For Atlas is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. We love this new action-adventure game. You assemble a custom starship that you mount to your game controller, and then take part in epic space combat. You can also swap the parts on your model and then your in-game starship will also change in real time. It’s so much fun for my kids.
It was also awesome for Scarlet to be a hero. Not only a hero, but she can lead a heroic team of interstellar pilots to free the Atlas stay system from the Forgotten Legion. The modular toys are innovative in that they allow the kids to build unique starships which can be customized in real time for a new way to play. As they play, players adapt to overcome many challenges that they encounter in this open world adventure. The game content IS mature, but appropriate for kids 7+.
Here’s what we love about this awesome last minute gift idea:
It’s an open-world space saga that features modular toy technology that allows players to assemble and customize real-world physical starships. Kids can also link the starship to their game controller, and launch into an epic adventure across the Atlas star system. They can play either in single player mode, or with a friend in two-player split-screen local co-op. Another cool thing is that each modular component and pilot attached to the starship appears instantly in-game, allowing players to directly affect the course of their battle in a meaningful way.
Here are some more thoughts on Starlink: Battle for Atlas:
- It’s great for a child gamer who is in between little kid games and much older, teen video games.
Since it’s open world play, with many challenges, kids will not get bored with the game. There’s always more to do.
The environment is contained so that’s safer for kids. The variety of challenges and adventures are what kids and gamers are looking for, but there aren’t the unsafe interactions that are common in many other open world games.
One cool thing for my kids is to explore the exotic alien worlds of the Atlas star system. There are seven unique planets that each have their own ecosystem, wildlife and secrets. Even when you aren’t playing, the world evolves.
The wildlife was my kids’ favorite thing to discover.
The Starter Pack we bought includes a controller mount which allows you to connect your starship and pilot your controller. You can also mix and match weapons, pilots, and starships and it’s great for kids to watch it happen in-game.
If you want to play two-player, you can play with the split-screen local co-op and combine different loadouts to save Atlas together.
You can also purchase additional physical starship, weapon, and pilot packs.
It’s such a cool game because it’s a safe one that I can feel good about, and it’s fun to see my kids use their thinking skills to overcome obstacles. It’s like you can see the lightbulbs come on in their heads as they get better and further in the game. And it’s one of the greatest things I remember about playing video games as a kid. I love the learning. I think it transcends into real life too – as you are better about obstacles. Check it out here and tell me what game system you have!
