Sometimes I just want to be alone at night so I can scratch my mosquito bites write my Friday blog post.
Hey look! That was my first time doing the line through words thing. It was easier than I expected! Anyway. I am not scratching my mosquito bites (and what is it with them itching only at night?) but I am excited to be multi-tasking like an idiot co-hosting #AskAwayFriday and Ladies Only Blog Share Link Party yet again. My partner for #AAF is Rebecca-Faith, from Diz Mommy.

Rebecca-Faith is a wonderful, intuitive, thoughtful and luminous breath of fresh air. I’m kinda pissed about the whole California/Massachusetts thing because I’d really like to meet her for coffee and cookies. And I’d love for her adorable son, Dylan to play with my son, Des. They might hit each other and pull each other’s fabulous hair, but hey, what can you do? I’ve been looking forward to this post all week because I adore R.F. and she makes my blogging life that much better.
Hooray, hooray, hooray for the all new #AskAwayFriday! Get to know our new hosts, meet our new co-host, and grab our new logo! Shelly is a new Mama and a DIY Pro. When you visit her site you can look for a bit of fun, craft and organization. Did I mention she is also a Pro on all things Disney? Yes, so if you want to know the where to go and Must See on Disney be sure to head over and check out Shelly’s place.

Be sure to check out Diz Mommy’s answers to my questions HERE. And now, my answers to her questions:
1. What was the name of your first blog and why? (if you still have the same blog, what’s your first screen name)
Oh, I’ve always been Tamara (Like) Camera! I have changed my tagline a few times, but ultimately, it really is about writing, photography and discovery. And a heck of a lot more, but they can be contained in those three bursting categories.
Oh! And my first AOL screenname was TamaraK725.
2. What famous person do people tell you that you most resemble?
I get Anne Hathaway ALL.THE.TIME. It’s funny because I never know quite what to respond with. “Oh yes! I look like that totally gorgeous movie star.” doesn’t roll off the tongue very easily. I think I look nothing like her. I’d like to look like her, though!
3. When people meet you for the first time, what are they surprised to learn?
I’ve met about 4-5 blogging friends in real life and ALL have said, “You are EXACTLY how you come across on your blog – in looks and personality.” I think they’re all telling the truth? Maybe? Although I’ve been told once or twice that people thought I’d be taller. I’m not short – I’m 5’6″ – but being skinny with long hair seems to make me look 5’10”. I’m so stumped. People reading this! What were you surprised to learn? Sometimes my sarcasm is surprising to people on the west coast, but I never have any problems with it here. People are surprised sometimes that I have anxiety because I am often happy and put together in person.
And it’s not a front! If I’m anxious, it’s usually pretty noticeable. Sometimes I just really, really miss my grandparents and my father. I think life will always be this way. People are sometimes surprised I have this deep pain of loss in my life.

4. What purchase do you feel the guiltiest making?
I think I feel guiltiest purchasing crap food for my kids. You’d think it would be the opposite because organic food is more expensive, but I feel guilty buying my kids chemical-laced junk food when we’re out and about and there are no better choices.
5. You receive so many comments so this is going to be tricky but…what has been a comment that has stood out above the rest?
That sure is tricky! And I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I’ve been blown away more than once by a comment from Stephanie at “So, I’ve been thinking..” Without really having the time or heart space to narrow down much more, I’ll just direct people to the comments in my post from Monday – “Sometimes I Think Horrible Things About Myself.” If that isn’t comment A-game from all of you, then I don’t know what is. You’re all inspiring. And YOU, miss R.F. Your comments are delightful. I always look forward to my Hump Day wishes from Iva and three point comments from Eli. And ALL of you. I read each one twice.
6. Name the song that will cause you to break the speakers? (I personally cannot stand the “Don’t worry…be happy…” song. Kill…me…now)
I somehow found the video for it by going to the Billboard website. It’s this. I can’t listen to it without cringing:
7. Which worries you more – doing things right or doing the right things?
Oh, doing things right! For sure. I don’t even know if I need to elaborate. I think it’s evident with a lot of my anxiety.
8. Do you have a cherished item that is off-limits for everyone to touch? If so, what is it?
I’d say my camera but I totally let Cassidy and even Scarlet use it. So I’ll say it’s my favorite stuffed animal from childhood – Donald Duck. I hide “him” from Scarlet and Des. He’s up in my bedroom. No one touches “Donnie.” Long live, Donnie!

9. I have never felt like a “Rebecca,” do you like your name? What other name could you see yourself as?
I love my name. I spent most of my life as “Tammy” and it didn’t change until I changed. I would introduce myself to new people as “Tamara” in college, but then I’d forget or resort to my old ways and if I called myself “Tammy”, they soon did too. I’m not a fan. Since Tamara is still somewhat fresh to me, I dig it. And it rhymes with “camera”. You can’t beat that!
Oh, and my middle name is Eden. Tammy Eden?? No. Tamara Eden?? Yes.
10. Thus far, what has been the best year of your life and why?
Ohhh… I used to say 2004 because that’s when I met Cassidy and started to believe in love, but then we had the terrible heartbreak that same year. 2009 was pretty fantastic with meeting Scarlet. 2012 was a real high too for meeting Des. Two way tie there! I had a happy childhood but I can honestly say that I’ve experienced greater happiness in adulthood.
All that love, parenting, moose, ice cream whenever I want it.. Speaking of which. I’m having some now! Have a WONDERFUL weekend. Rebecca, your questions were AWESOME. I’m reeling in them. xoxo.

Was that you in green swimsuit on # 3? Because that looks like Scarlet to me! Ahaha! Really 🙂 And you are definitely Anne Hathaway!
I get guilty too whenever I buy junk food for Reiko, I felt like I’m not doing him any justice. I try to spend on healthier food for him but then again, I’m not really an expert in determining which ones are healthy or not. Ugh.
Totally me in the green swimsuit – eerie, right? Usually I don’t see the resemblance quite as much.
I’m no food expert either! I bought her Lucky Charms once. Don’t tell anyone!
Meeting bloggy friends is so amazing! Wow that pic of you in the pool, I definitely see you in Scarlet! I have a Raggedy Ann that I had to send away and have repaired by a lady who lives in a little town near me. What was great about it was that she was friends with Johnny Gruelle’s (Raggedy Ann’s creator) great granddaughter who autographed my doll for me. Now I have her packed away to keep her safe, because before she was repaired she was losing her stuffing and the material was so thin that she had to be handled with great care. Happy Friday, Tamara and hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!
What a cool story about Raggedy Ann! We had a broken doll and there is a apparently a doll repairwoman in town. I called and got voicemail and she had the creepiest voice ever. I couldn’t go through with it! But we still have a broken doll.
Happy Weekend to you, my friend!
Oh my gosh, yeah, you TOTALLY look like Anne Hathaway!!! I get Scarlet Johansson a lot (hahahahahahaha) for some reason. The only thing I think me and her have in common is our deeper, raspy voices. And I could totally see your east coast sarcasm coming off confusing to those on the west coast. When I’ve been in NY, I sometimes can’t tell why a person just said what they said because it sounded so rude or abrupt. I guess we’re too sensitive over here, haha!
When I lived in California, one of my friends said it’s why people didn’t get me. Oops! I tried to tone down the sarcasm. Here, it’s rampant! That was really funny.
I can totally see Scarlett Johansson with you!
Well having now met you in person I would have to agree that I would never guess that you have anxiety. But then again, I get very anxious as well but I usually just “save” that side of myself for my family. And I have a hard time seeing you as a Tammy. I used to introduce myself as Beverly and over time people would usually start to call me Bev, but in the last few years I just started introducing myself as Bev. Beverly just feels too formal.
Thank you for chiming in! I also wasn’t anxious at all on Wednesday, which was nice. A beautiful day, good company, a beautiful place. I’d hope by now that if I were meeting a blog friend for the first time and I WAS experiencing anxiety, I’d find a way to tell them instead of just having them think I’m so weird in real life! Totally possible.
Scarlet’s teacher is Beverly but I’m glad she called you Bev. It’s how I think of you!
Ok, I never saw Anne Hathaway before you mentioned that in you, but now I totally do see it. Seriously though need to meet you in person to decide whether I think you are taller or shorter then I think. I totally am a midget at 5’2″! But still like how I worked in meeting each other. Man, it is so going to happen one of the days I promise myself and you that, too! Have a great weekend and I have been also dreaming about it all damn (long) week, too now 🙂
ha! Well you know about the 5’6″ thing. I used to FEEL taller because I used to wear big heels, and wear them well. Since pregnancy/parenting, it’s really not something I do much. So I used to feel taller because I was about 5’8″ or so in heels!
I know we’ll meet. It’s already on the books, and if something should happen before then, I’ll cry happy tears!
I have a stuffed doggy that my grandma made for me. Poor thing has several holes, and my kids are definitely NOT allowed to go near him! Here’s another question for you…does Cassidy call you Tammy or Tamara? Curious minds want to know!
Definitely Tamara!! He knows better. His brother is friendly with my sister who only calls me “Tammy” and so his brother started doing that and I freaked. No! It was tainted! My new Tamara life was tainted! I got so mad I said I’d call him “Samuel” (he’s Sam) and he understood.
Never again.
You just made my Friday by listing me as one of your favorite comments 😀 I despise mosquitoes – when I was younger my bites would get fluid-filled and I would struggle to walk. I’d get sent home. Good times. Celebrities I get: sanaa lathan. I swear my boss won’t drop it. Great minds think alike and we definitely do, definitely doing things right – I freak out if I sense a mistake coming. I’ve gotten better at accepting them but still have a low tolerance for it. I also love my name, my mother hit it on the money when she named me Ivanna. My name sounds official so no need to ever tamper with it, my bf already knows my last name will become my middle name once I take his last name in the future. It’s not going nowhurrrrr.. So I am going away for the weekend with the beau and wanted to stop by your blog before I disappear for the weekend and say HAPPY FRIDAY!!! And it’s Memorial Day weekend! Hope you all do something awesome and maybe see some moose 😛 Thank you for making my day! <3 -Iva
Oh dear! Are you allergic to mosquitoes?? That sounds terrible! They’re so bad here because we have standing water on our woodsy property. Not cool. We need to wage war on mosquitoes and we need to win, but without disrupting the food chains/well beings of any animals.
Yeah. That’s my dream. Ticks too.
Sanaa Lathan, eh? I can see that! I always adored her. She’s foxy!
Thanks for leaving such great comments. Have a great weekend! I don’t think it will be filled with moose because I’m not sure I’m up for the drive, but it’s actually not so bad..
Maybe..
When younger, severely – as I’ve grown older it’s tapered off but it’s still pretty bad and I’m conditioned to be afraid of them so I just avoid “nature” – usually swampy environments. Beaches are pretty safe so it’s tolerable. Yikes nip those in the butt lady! Ugh I know mosquitoes have their purpose but we can’t coexist together in unison. She is foxy which is why I don’t see the resemblance beyond some facial features lol You’re very welcome always here to spread the joy 😛 Just returned from our getaway and it was GLORIOUS! 🙂 Enjoy your weekend love!! -Iva
Ugh. I can’t imagine how you live where you live! Same here. In SF, there were no mosquitoes. That was a nice life. Maybe in the desert too, but then you’d have to live in the desert.
Hope you had a GREAT getaway, you foxy girl!
I feel very strongly that you are NOT a Tammy!! My mind is blown. Maybe it’s because I have a cousin named Tammy and the two of you are nothing alike. I thought you were taller, at least like 5’10. But I don’t think it really matters how tall or short anyone is. Some women feel like taller is more beautiful. I call BS on that one (then again, I’m 5’3, so…) Have a fabulous long weekend!
ha! I’m glad your mind is blown. Like..23 years as Tammy. 23 years! I’ll never get them back! Just kidding. It wasn’t so bad. My birth certificate says Tamara, after all. And my middle name is Eden. And Tammy Eden does not have the same ring as Tamara Eden.
5’3″?? I picture you as 5’10” too!
Have a fabulous weekend, my friend!
Great post Tamara. I agree that you look like Anne Hathaway, I love her too 😛
Aw, thank you! Now tell me what celebrity people think you look like? You’re so beautiful!
Thank you, but I have no idea 😛 do you? Have a beautiful week end 🙂
I don’t even know! I’d have to think about it. Definitely someone beautiful!
Thank you 🙂 You are very beautiful too and you have a beautiful family. I really admire you, best from Italy 🙂
I very much admire you too! Thank you!
When I first started blogging, I thought I would use the line through the words feature way more than I actually do.
2004 and 2009 are pretty special for me, too – those were the years my boys were born. 🙂
I always see that feature and I never had done it! I don’t want to overuse it, but it is pretty funny. I think I first saw it at The Dose Girls!
Special years, indeed!
Five foot six is still pretty tall to this barely five foot two inch girl. I have experienced greater happiness in adulthood too, even though my childhood was pretty awesome. How lucky are we to be able to say that? May the mosquitoes stay away from you this weekend, Tamara!
I used to be taller because I used to wear two inch heels! Then pregnancy and parenting came into my life and it won’t work anymore.
We are very lucky!
Stupid mosquitoes need to die!
I always feel guilty buying my kids crap food, but sometimes I give into pleas or bow to convenience. Stinks that the quick and easy foods are so full of yucky stuff!!
I actually like the song you can’t stand. Maybe it was that cute commercial with the dog and the horse…
I also find I’m happier as an adult than as a child. Maybe I just took awhile to grow into myself.
Have a fabulous long weekend, Tamara!
Scarlet loves the song too. I think it’s been growing on me seeing the video. I think the voice just bothers me when it’s disembodied!
I think it takes time to grow into ourselves. Childhood can be amazing, but full of so much impatience and trauma, when you really think about it.
It is interesting that you mentioned that people assume you are not anxious. I am always fascinated by what people perceive through writing and photographs.
These Friday posts are interesting because they reveal so many everyday details. Have a good weekend, Tamara.
It’s funny because I always talk about anxiety! I guess those people don’t read my blog!
Have a great weekend!
Interesting! I would have guessed 5’10” too! Fun Friday read…thanks for sharing!
5’10” sounds good! I’d take 5’8″! I used to be that tall when I wore heels.
Have a great weekend!
Look at adorable you in the swimming pool! 🙂 And I love that Cassidy wore Converse on your wedding day! I should have done that- I uncharacteristically wore pumps with a two inch heel and HATED them and could barely walk- I never wear high heels! Good for him for going for comfort!
Have a fantastic weekend, Tamara! 🙂
I loved the Converse! I wish I had worn them too. My feet hurt SO much at the end of the night, but you know, I wanted to appear taller than 5’6″ and all!
Can’t wait to get to your post – hope you have a great weekend!
Like you and Dana I had more happy moments in mu adulthood, not that my childhood was bad. And yes, mosquito bites itch only at night! It’s annoying! By the way, I have never commented on your name but since you elaborated some more on it I feel I have to. I was almost Tamara – my father wanted me to have that name. Then my mother came up with Ana so Tamara went out the window. I love the name Tamara, and I really dislike Ana since almost every other woman in Croatia is either Ana or Ivana.
Funny because there’s an Ivanna who commented here today! I call her Iva. She’s not from Croatia, I think, though.
Ana is a very beautiful name too – I like it with one “n.”
In USA it might be a curosity – but then most people pronounced it wrong! While growing up I had 5 other Ana’s in my class at the same time!
All pronounced the same? And how is your name pronounced? Have you seen Frozen? There’s an Anna in it who pronounces it differently than the usual way Americans pronounce. More like Ah – na.
Yes I have seen Frozen and that’s exactly how you pronounce my name! All of the Ana’s in Croatia are pronounced the same way – in fact in Croatian, all words are pronounced how they are spelled.
I’m only 5’3 so I am pretty short.
I would love to meet you! I think we’d have some fun.
I probably give my kids crap food more often than I should. If only crap food weren’t so tasty! But they do like their fruits and veggies too.
That’s not so short!
I also would love to hang out. It would be the best!
I think the fact that they like fruits and veggies is wonderful. Balance is everything, right?
I feel guilty about buying junk food as well, but it’s so easily accessible! Why can’t organic food be just as readily available (and cheap)?
I know! I remember reading about a vending machine with fresh, organic salads. Not sure if it ever came to be or was just an idea. I like it! Probably not cheap, though.
Oh! I promise I have no less than 10 mosquito bites Right Now! I must be sweet or their favorite flavor or something because they are eating me up! You’re so right though, they only itch at night! And ummmthat song – what’s with is voice? I never heard it before but it’s a bit annoying.
I probably have ten – they itch horribly. Were they always this bad? Probably. And Des had one on his face for a week and it was not pretty.
The voice in that song threw me! It’s less bad for me watching the video because at least I know a bit more about the singer. Without seeing it, I really thought it might an old lady or something!
Ok, there is so much awesomeness in this post. I hate the fact that you are in Mass and Rebecca is in Cali and I am in Minnesota because, we all totally need to meet and hang out. Not even joking, I adore you two ladies!
By the way, I totally have a stuffed clydesdale pony that no one is allowed to touch. I have had her since I was in kindergarten!
I ADORE YOU TOO! I wanna laugh with Echo!
Yay! I would love it!
Well you are in the middle so I call your place for meeting up! Oh, if only travel were that easy, right?
We adore you too!
What’s your pony’s name?
I wish travel was that easy! Her name is Galloper, by the way!
Galloper! That is the cutest ever!
1. Tamara Eden sounds like someone who would be in a movie with Dean Martin. Someone he’d chase but who would resist him, at least at first.
2. You were a cute kid. That yankees hat has to go, though.
3. So much royalty today. You’re the Queen of Comments, and Rebecca is the Dutchess of G-Plus Pluses. Y’all rock.
I couldn’t resist him for long.
I had nothing to do with the Yankees hat, unfortunately. You can definitely blame my parents for that one. Tell them I sent you!
And Rebecca is not just a Duchess – she is a Goddess!
OMG! You do look like Anne Hathaway. I hadn’t realized it until you mentioned it but you do. I feel you on mosquito bites, they always itch at night. It kills me!! I have fox stuffed animal , Sly, that no one is allowed ot touch. Must be a girl thing!!
Sly sounds adorable!
We got this all natural mosquito mist thing on our deck and I swear it worked!
2004 was a good year for me too! My husband and I got married in 2004. I would agree that I’ve had more happiness as an adult, but that may have been because I was always counting down until I would be an adult when I was younger. It started at 12 when I had five more years before graduating and leaving for college. Maybe it was watching A Different World, but I was so ready to go to college when I was young…lol.
ha! I LOVED that show. Whitley. She had a nice heart underneath her frosty exterior.
There was definitely something about 2004.
I always feel guilty when I buy my kids crap food too!! And you and me both girl- happy as hell, but you will know when I am an anxious mess! Every time you mention your love story I think- ‘IF I DON’T GET THERE SOON I’M GOING TO LOSE MY MIND!!!!’ Ugh, this summer. THIS summer I will READ IT ALL!!!
Love the questions always and of course all your answers!!!
Aw! Yes you will. Or you can call me and I’ll read it to you! Bedtime stories.
Love these questions! I get Chelsea Clinton for my celebrity look alike which I guess I kind of see. I’ve always been Jenny. Never Jen or Jennifer, they just don’t fit. I’m finding my true happiness and making the best memories in adulthood. I’m so much more confident now and know where I’m going. That makes all the difference.
Hmm.. Chelsea Clinton. Well that’s cool. She turned out so beautifully. And pregnant, I think!
Childhood was awesome for many reasons but there are just so many life things that I find better now. And still so exciting and joyous, but of course less innocent.
I always enjoy reading your “Ask Away Friday” posts each week. Do you have to be a regular reader of the other blogs that co-host in order to participate in this? Every Friday I think about clicking on the links to the Facebook page and subscribing to the e mail newsletter, but I am not familiar with the other bloggers who co-host. I guess I will continue to think about it.
I had a friend named Tamara when I was growing up. She was a neighbor and our back yards met up. Her mother and my mother were best friends, still are, her and her brother and two sisters were like siblings to me, our families were that close. She went by Tammy as well. On December 1, 2000 we had our first snowfall and while driving to work (she was an elementary school teacher), her car spun out on some black ice right in front of an SUV, and she was killed. So sad. Sorry I shared this tragic story with you. It just came to mind when I was reading what you wrote about your name.
Like always I enjoy your “Ask Away Friday” posts and I hope that you have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend.
Oh no – what a sad story. I’m sorry about your old friend.
You don’t have to do a thing to participate in Ask Away Friday except participate! Just find a partner and swap ten questions and then link up! You can partner with any of the regulars or hosts or find a new one. And there’s a Facebook group you can join too to find a partner or just share anything:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/AskAwayFriday/
WOW! I totally see Anne Hathaway now that you mention it! And 5’6? JEALOUS! I tell everyone (including the DMV) I’m 5’4…and at a doctor appointment this past Wednesday, the bubble bursting nurse took no time to remind me that “You said you’re 5’4 but you’re measuring 5’3.” I looove your guilty answer! I just adore you- thank you so much for being my first Ask Away Friday partner. And thank you sooo much for your kind words about me. Des and Dylan really do have beautiful hair huh? Lol PS. I LOVE THE NAME EDEN! So beautiful. But it really doesn’t get better than Tamara…like CAMERA. <3!
Confession time? I’m a shade under 5’6″ but they said I was 5’5″ and more then 3/4 which counts as 5’6″, I say!
I adore you. Very much. This was a wonderful trade and someone just told me your questions were some of the best she’s read.
Not shabby!
I always thought you looked like Snow White, but I can see Anne Hathaway too! I don’t have a celebrity look alike and I’m okay with that!
I think it is a wise move to hide Donald from your kids. I have my blanket from when I was a child and Malone is forever trying to steal it.
I really like looking like Snow White! I wish I had worked for Disney World when I had the chance!
Can I tell you something? I have another friend named Tamara Eden!! (But it’s Tamara pronounced the other way). Anyway, you know I already think you look like Sutton Foster. 🙂
I think I will do your LOBS link-up this weekend… It would be fun to do a Memorial Day-themed post.
That is so weird!! Was this the first time you knew my middle name is Eden? Eerie!
I’ll take Sutton Foster any day. I wish I could dance like she can!
I’d love to see you link up, if you haven’t already. I haven’t been able to check yet but I will!
Now that you mention it you do look like Anne Hathaway! My brother introduced my 3 yr old to the Don’t Worry song and it played on loop for a month. So there with you on that one.
Oh dear about the song on an endless loop! Scarlet looks it too and she sort of teases me that I can’t stand it.
cool post – I miss my dad & Grandparents too. Sometimes I can just cry if something reminds me of my father and then it hits me.
Love your photos – esp. the blast from the past ones 🙂
I used to cry whenever anything reminded me of my grandmother, and so many things do. Like rainbow sprinkles! I cry less these days but she’ll always be fully in my heart.
Cute that you still have your Donnie!!! I gave my son my lovie but he has his own & can’t be bothered with other stuffed animals, old or new 😉
Teddy?
Donnie is holding steady. I think he’ll live forever!
Great answers. I remember having my old cabbage patch kids and I finally gave up and let my daughter play with them when she was younger. Not sure what happened to them, I think they got trashed eventually because they were gross, plus it was useless junk laying around the house.
I think my parents still have my old Cabbage Patch dolls. I used to love them so much. I was quite attached to one of them so I’m sure my parents kept him.
I love that you have to hide Donnie from your kids! I have ‘Dolly’ (original) that I keep in our fire safe! I’ve given it to Sophie for pictures but it’s pretty raggity so I got her a replica. 🙂 I hope you have a fun filled Memorial Day weekend Tammy! 😉
Scarlet used to play with Donnie a bit, actually, but she would leave him places and drop him. She wasn’t too attached – and just loved the novelty of him – so I quietly snuck him away and she has never asked about him since.
And eek – Tammy!! You’re too funny.
Oh I do see the resemblance to Ann Hathaway! Even though I have never met you in person, I feel like I know you. Love learning more about you on Ask Away Friday. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with the kids. Now I have a craving for ice cream too….Enjoy!
I feel the same way! And that means a lot. I feel like these connections are legit and anytime I’ve tested them out in person, it’s worked out quite nicely.
I hope you got some ice cream! Mine was Nutter Butter flavored.
This is probably one of the best sets of questions ever. Based on what I’ve read here, I would never have placed you as a Tammy. It seems a bit too blond valley girl. You definitely come across as very down to earth here on the blog, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you were the same in person. Hope you have a great weekend!
I always thought Tammy sounded like a cheerleader with a blond ponytail! Or a porn star.
Tamara is something else.
I really thought her questions were a home run. I was STUMPED on many. I do them last minute anyway but I kept taking breaks.
Have a great long weekend!
I never thought about Anne Hathaway but you do kind of look like her! We have a friend who looks like Michael J Fox and people would make comments to him about it. It was pretty funny. He pretty much was a ringer back in those days. I love that you let your family use your camera…I do too. We’ve had some mishaps.
Aw, because Michael J. Fox has always been adorable to me.
Scarlet is fine with my pro camera but I’m definitely getting one for herself. I wonder if she’ll be advanced enough to detect the quality changes between a high-end Canon camera and a Disney Princess point-and-shoot. Since it’s Scarlet, I do wonder!
Oh, she’ll be able to tell the difference. My daughter has my old 30D and she still covets mine. It’s not fast enough for her. Oh how these kids are spoiled by good equipment!
Isn’t that funny? I get so frustrated with the iPhone but I still use it. Scarlet took that photo of Bev and me with an iPhone but didn’t complain..yet.
I totally see Anne now that you mention it haha! I feel terrible when I get my kids bad stuff..I almost feel like the bad parenting police are going to arrest me on the spot. I can say without doubt that we will be out and about this weekend a lot and there will be bad food. It is what it is. I love how comfortable you are in your name. I am a bit opposite I am settling well into Nellie and sometimes when folks ask me I tell them thats my name. Oops.
Well Anne used to have long hair and I got it more then! She’s been shorter with her hair for ages.
I can tell you that my kids ate Cheetos. And I was with poor Allie and her twins’ faces lit up when they saw it and Scarlet shared.
My family drew her family to the dark side!
I think Nellie is the most fabulous name.
So do you think you will EVER allow someone to touch Donnie? Like, your future grandchildren? 🙂
I totally thought you were 5’8″ or 5’9″. But I’m barely 5’3″ so everyone looks tall to me.
I used to wear heels so I always looked 5’8″ or 5’9″ quite seriously!
Yes, about Donnie. I actually did let Scarlet play with him for awhile but she didn’t take to him all that much. She liked the novelty of him but then would leave him laying around. So I quietly snuck him into hiding and she has never noticed!
Wow – some tough questions today – fun to read the answers!!
I don’t know if I have a cherished possession – although some days I’m sort of like that about a particular food item that I might have saved for myself!!!
They really tough – you’re right! I had to keep taking breaks in writing this, and I always do Ask Away Friday at the last possible minute!
What great questions! Rebecca-Faith is new to me, but I trust you if you say she is that wonderful and I am definitely head ingot check her out. Have to admit – I was thinking you’d be taller. I think it is the skinny, long hair in photos. Also, I had this open on my computer all day yesterday and kept getting interrupted when I sat down to read it. Glad I finally got to it this morning! 🙂
I just love her! I have no clue how we “met” to be honest. She writes wonderful posts and has a very adorable son.
I just got to you today too. Yesterday was a day spent at a Science Museum and then rain, rain, rain during a BBQ. Glad I got there today!
I love that 10 questions theme/swap/thingie and reading your answers is awesome. It really gives us a glimpse of YOU. And yes, I can see Anne Hathaway, too.
Now I am going to watch the music video and then I will check out the AAF facebook page
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
She used to have long hair so I see it less these days. Big smile, though. I like her!
Let me know if you can’t access the FB page. You should be able to join if you want.
Have a great weekend!
That is true, Tamara. Well, I wasn’t quite sure how the fb page works, but I clicked ‘join’ – so, I’ll take it from there 😉
Looks like it worked! So glad.
I am totally with you on the movie star resemblance thing–what does one say? There’s no part of Emily Post devoted to that! What IS the etiquette? All that being said though, you are completely beautiful in an Anne Hathaway-like way, and I think you should totally own it.
And I can see Scarlet in you in the picture with your grandmother. I love that.
ha, ok so..who do you get?? Obviously someone gorgeous!
Thank you for saying that – and I will totally own it!
I put that photo on FB the other night and several of my friends just thought it was a photo of Scarlet in the news feed that I gave a vintage filter to! Nope! That’s pure 1986 or so.
Tammy just doesn’t seem to fit you, Tamara. We haven’t met (yet), but I definitely think you’re a Tamara. Due to the Hippie Chick Granola confusion, my kids now call you Tamara Like Camera. They also know you as the blogger friend that lives near Six Flags. We need to pick a weekend soon!
ha! I love that. I’ll take that nickname.
We’re around for Six Flags and can go many times! All of summer weekends can be busy but we have plenty of time. We can do weekdays too.
Omgosh, yeah! You do look like Anne Hathaway! Things I agree, crappy food, and camera. I am also amazed how you get to respond to all your 100+ comments…how you did this all with two kids and I am sure with other things you do 🙂 You are a great woman !
Thanks for sharing DIY Mama, excited to visit her blog and hope I have time to get connected with DIYers. Shared my link as well, thanks for this opportunity!
The comments are the fun part of it. It does take some time but it would be worse for me to ignore them – I’d just keep thinking about them.
So thank you!
DIY Mama is really fabulous.
I used to think that I spent too much time reading my blog posts comments but now I don’t. I usually read them once real quick as I go about the day and so I can reflect on them and then again when I respond back. I want to make sure I’m giving good responses. It seems just as important as the post writing part to me.
I would have to say my magazines for the things that people can’t touch. People can touch them but not until I’m done reading them first. I mean, don’t even flip through it quickly. It’ll totally tick me off and I may yell and say bad words.
I like that – reflecting. And having too many blog comments to read is a good problem to have!
Your responses are always as wonderful as your comments on other blogs.
I get that about magazines. I get weird about them if I haven’t read them. And if I have, I honestly have no feeling whatsoever for them anymore.
My son’s middle name is Edan. With the “a”. No.Kidding. I LOVE it.
it’s technically an anagram for “Dean” – because that’s his grandfather’s name, and his father’s middle name….. and I like history; with a twist. 🙂
I can see the Anne Hathaway thing a bit…. but my first thought was Rachel Weiz.
It’s no use fighting it – you’re gorgeous! 🙂
Wow! Edan for Dean. I love it. Is it pronounced like mine? Eden?
Rachel is a HUGE crush for my husband so you made my day. You made my day! No use fighting it. Thank you, thank you!
Tamara Eden – I love that! And I also love that Tamara rhymes with Camera.
Thanks! It was totally to tell people how to pronounce my name but some people don’t get that right away and think it’s about me liking cameras. Which I do!
I love Rebecca-Faith… she’s such a sweetheart. What a treat to read both of your “Ask Away Fridays”.
I love reading comments on my blog (and I love writing them). Unfortunately I tend to be wordy so my comments are more like novels.
You REALLY do look like Anne Hathaway! Oh my goodness! I often get people saying I look so familiar. I think I have a doppelganger – as i once had a lady call out to me and say “Hi Jennifer.” When I responded to her she came closer and said it was her mistake but I look so much like a Jennifer she knows who has two little girls as well. Freaked me out!
I’ve never met a blogging buddy in real life… although I would absolutely love to. I have met a reader though. Freaked me out too because she approached me in a store and asked, “Are you The Deliberate Mom?”. One of the most surreal experiences in my life (that and childbirth).
You have a beautiful middle name too! I loved getting to know you better through this post. I’ll have to check out that Ask Away Friday Facebook group. This seems like loads of fun.
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
Yes, Rebecca-faith is amazing!
I love long and wordy comments. I tend to have them the same sometimes, just depending on the post and what it stirred in me.
I met a twitter friend at our local co-op. It was so weird. I just knew she looked familiar but I didn’t know why quite yet. We’re both local writers so it was a wonderful connection to make.
And I went to a birthday party recently and met someone new and she said she recognized me from Pinterest!
ha! for some reason, i also pictured you to be about 5’10”! 🙂
Now I really wish I were that tall! I’m probably disappointing in real life!
Something is seriously wrong with me! I’ve been following you for over a year now and I literally just got it! Your blog name is Tamara Like Camera, but I was still saying Tamara wrong when I would think of you! Ugh! Forgive me! I just got it after all this time! I don’t know how you picked being doing things right or doing the right thing. Both are ever so important to me! It would be very tough to pick 🙁 And you definitely do not look like Anne Hathaway! You look a million times better! I am never impressed with Hollywood because they are always “done up” and “altered” for everything we see them in. Your natural beauty is something she can’t beat! 🙂 Oh my goodness, yes! I see Scarlet in you in those old pictures!
I hear that a lot! Maybe my blog name isn’t that good. People still pronounce it wrong a lot!
So don’t feel badly!
And your natural beauty comment made me SO HAPPY. She looks different these days and I haven’t seen a recent photo in awhile actually.
Love the name Eden, I actually considered it for a “girls name” 🙂 And yes you absolutely look like Anne Hathaway, but don’t EVER cut off your lovely locks! BTW I love the set-up/Intro of the your blog swap- those images look fantastic- you are so talented!
I would never cut my hair! I swear! Not even for money.
And thank you so much!
That song totally confuses me! For the longest time I thought he was saying that you don’t know your lover til you let her go. And it made me mad?! How could you know know your lover?? Then it suddenly because clear. Still don’t care for the song much, though.
haha! It’s the voice for me. The video is actually more tolerable for me because I can see what he looks like..and that he’s human. On the radio, it just doesn’t sound right when it’s disembodied.
i like how you describe your name change (from tammy to tamara), as you changing along with it. after college, i just didn’t feel like a cathy anymore so i went by my given name.
