Is Starbucks Open on Christmas? Everything You Need to Know
Christmas Day is one of the busiest holidays of the year for many people. While families gather at home, travelers head to airports, shoppers visit stores, and others look for a warm drink or a quick breakfast. This often leads to one common question: Is Starbucks open on Christmas?
The short answer is: some Starbucks locations may be open on Christmas Day, but not every location operates on the same schedule. Holiday hours can vary depending on the store, location, ownership, and local demand. Some stores may open for limited hours, while others may close completely.
If you are planning to visit Starbucks on December 25, checking the hours of your specific location before leaving is the safest option.
Is Starbucks Open on Christmas Day?
Starbucks does not necessarily close all of its stores on Christmas Day. Some locations choose to remain open, particularly in busy areas where customers may want coffee during the holiday.
However, Christmas is a major holiday, so Starbucks locations may operate with reduced or modified hours. A store that normally opens early in the morning and closes late at night might have a shorter schedule on Christmas.
The most important thing to remember is that Starbucks holiday hours are not necessarily identical across every location. Even two Starbucks stores in the same city can have different Christmas schedules.
Why Do Starbucks Hours Vary on Christmas?
There are several reasons why Starbucks stores may have different holiday schedules.
First, Starbucks locations can operate under different ownership and management arrangements. Licensed Starbucks stores inside airports, hotels, supermarkets, shopping centers, hospitals, and other businesses may follow the operating schedule of the host location.
Second, local management may adjust holiday hours based on expected customer traffic and staffing availability.
Christmas Day can also affect transportation, shopping-center schedules, and employee availability. As a result, one store might remain open for customers while another nearby location closes for the holiday.
How to Check Starbucks Christmas Hours
If you want to know whether your local Starbucks is open on Christmas, checking the specific store is much better than relying on a general holiday-hours list.
One of the easiest options is to use the Starbucks website or mobile app. Search for the Starbucks location you plan to visit and look at its listed hours.
You can also check the location through online maps. Search for the Starbucks store and review its holiday schedule if one has been posted.
Another useful option is calling the store directly. This can be particularly helpful on Christmas Day because holiday schedules can sometimes change.
Does Starbucks Open on Christmas Eve?
Christmas Eve is different from Christmas Day. Many Starbucks locations may be open on December 24, although some stores can close earlier than usual.
If you are planning to purchase coffee, gift cards, food, or other Starbucks products on Christmas Eve, it is still a good idea to check the store’s hours before visiting.
Christmas Eve can be busy, especially during the morning and afternoon, so visiting earlier may also help you avoid crowds.
What About Starbucks Drive-Thru Locations?
Starbucks stores with drive-thru services may also have special Christmas schedules.
A drive-thru location can be convenient for customers who want to pick up coffee without leaving their vehicle. However, having a drive-thru does not guarantee that the location will be open on Christmas.
Some drive-thru stores may operate for limited hours, while others may close completely. Always check the individual store before traveling.
Are Starbucks Inside Airports Open on Christmas?
Airport Starbucks locations can sometimes have different holiday schedules from regular neighborhood stores.
Airports continue operating on Christmas Day, and travelers may still need coffee and food. Because of this, some airport Starbucks locations may remain open when nearby stores are closed.
However, airport operating conditions can vary significantly. If you are traveling on Christmas, check the Starbucks location at your specific airport and consider checking the airport’s own operating information as well.
What Can You Get at Starbucks on Christmas?
If your local Starbucks is open, its available menu may be similar to its regular menu, but availability can vary.
Customers may be able to order popular drinks such as:
- Hot coffee
- Cold coffee beverages
- Espresso drinks
- Tea
- Hot chocolate
- Refreshing beverages
- Breakfast items
- Bakery products
- Snacks
Some food and drinks may be unavailable if the store has limited staffing or inventory. Seasonal products can also have different availability depending on the location.
Can You Order Starbucks Through the App on Christmas?
Mobile ordering availability depends on the individual store. If a Starbucks location is open and supports mobile ordering, the app may allow customers to place an order.
However, mobile ordering may be temporarily unavailable at certain locations during busy periods or because of operational limitations.
Before placing an order, make sure the selected location is open and accepting orders. This can help prevent an unnecessary trip.
Tips for Visiting Starbucks on Christmas
If you plan to visit Starbucks on Christmas Day, a little preparation can make the experience easier.
Check before you leave. Holiday hours can be different from normal hours, so confirm the store’s schedule.
Visit earlier if possible. If the location is open, Christmas morning can be a busy time for coffee shops.
Have another option. Because stores can close unexpectedly or operate shorter hours, it is useful to have an alternative nearby.
Check your order availability. Certain food and drink items may not be available at every location.
Be patient. Holiday staffing can be different from a normal day, and open locations may be busier than usual.
What If Your Local Starbucks Is Closed?
If your favorite Starbucks is closed on Christmas, you may have several alternatives.
You can check another Starbucks location nearby, particularly stores inside airports, hotels, hospitals, or other facilities that may follow different schedules.
You can also make coffee at home using Starbucks coffee beans, ground coffee, or other products available from retailers.
Another option is to check other local coffee shops that advertise Christmas Day opening hours. Independent cafés sometimes choose to remain open during holidays, although their schedules can also vary.
Starbucks Christmas Hours Can Change
One important point about Christmas hours is that they can change from year to year.
A Starbucks location that opened on Christmas last year may not necessarily have the same schedule this year. Likewise, a store that was closed previously could potentially operate limited hours during another holiday season.
For this reason, old holiday-hours information should not be treated as a guarantee.
The most reliable approach is always to check the current information for the exact Starbucks location you want to visit.
Final Thoughts
So, is Starbucks open on Christmas? In many cases, some Starbucks locations may be open, but there is no universal schedule for every store. Christmas Day hours can vary based on location, management, staffing, and whether the Starbucks is located inside another business or facility.
If you need coffee on December 25, check your local Starbucks through the official store locator or app before heading out. This simple step can help you confirm whether the store is open, what hours it is operating, and whether ordering services are available.
Whether you are traveling, meeting family, working during the holiday, or simply looking for your favorite coffee, checking the specific store is the best way to avoid surprises on Christmas Day.
