In the Best Light.
So here are my snow photos.. I’m a little late to the game, but I had to unbury myself from the snow drifts to write this.
I was thinking about a funny story yesterday while relaxing on the couch and listening to our dedicated plow guy take 40 minutes on our driveway. This is not a story that reveals me in the best light, but even just the thought of something that happened three years ago had me laughing to the point of tears and stomach clutching. I mean, Scarlet was dressed like Cinderella and she was watching some terrible show and I was just silently dying of laughter behind her and she thought I was laughing at this terrible show (LazyTown, maybe?) and I wasn’t but it made her throw her head back and crack up. And it was just such a nice moment. Although minutes later, the combination of our laughter and the loud plow woke up Des.
So the brief story, that does not reveal me in the best light is about the old computer game Farm Town. I’m a little ashamed to admit it, but it helped pass the time when I had a horrible office job once. After awhile, I easily grew tired of the game and I used to say pretty vulgar things on the message board part of the game and then quickly sign off. It was the true coward’s way out. It wasn’t anything too offensive and I didn’t even use terribly bad words. I’d just say..13-year-old humor things..and then leave the game before anyone could respond. Nice, huh? And just the mere thought of it..
I kinda lost it with the laughter bit. Being stuck inside for a few days will do that.
So on the subject of not seeing me in the best light, let’s talk about seeing things in the best light. Snow. Really challenging/amazing for photography. The snow acts as a gazillion different reflectors, which is nice, but the over/underexposure and white balance issues must be straightened out. If it’s a paid gig. If not, well, it’s a time to go crazy.
So I present to you, the highlights of our time during the epic storm. Nemo.
And if this seems like a lot..just remember that these are just the highlights..

Snow Fort love.

Love love love this! This is how Rochester was every day! Your snow photos are twinkly, magic, and prismatic!
The happiness shines right on through!
The happiness shines right through!!
I LOVE that you link up archived posts for #LOBS. These pictures are amazing. I want snow like this, just once, so I can capture my girls’ faces and antics as they play in the snow. Of course, I’d want you to be part of the snowy package so you could do the snapping & shooting! Do you accept comfort food and late night chats as payment?
I really love going through archives! I’m always afraid someone’s going to not get it and think they’re recent, but mostly, people can tell. I mean, Des is a little baby there! Now he’s a big, shaggy monster.
For the right person, that’s the exact right payment..
I love this post! I was so confused when I was looking at, thinking it was old. And I was right!! Gorgeous pictures! The picture I used in my actual post for LOBS is from last year. I love the looks on their faces!
Visiting from #LOBS. Thanks for hosting! Beautiful photos. It almost makes me wish we had snow. Then I got a good look at how deep your snow was and changed my mind 🙂
Your photos ALWAYS have the most amazing light. It’s like you live in this amazing world filled with golden, flattering lights. Dreamy…
