Not only is next week spring break, but it’s our nine year anniversary the following week and we’re going on a road trip then too! That is a lot of road trips for April. I’d like to believe we are still just as adventurous as how we started. Probably more so. Having kids together is an awfully big adventure, isn’t it? Not to mention making costumes, launching careers, planning trips, taking photographs, and just plain being married. There’s really nothing plain about it at all. This spring is OUR spring.
I haven’t always had the best car luck – which I’ve detailed here in the past! Sadly, I had lost an old car by not changing its oil ever – back when I was 19 and on my way to a Cranberries concert, no less! I never got to see the Cranberries (STILL), and I apparently didn’t learn my lesson because when I was in Maine – at age 25 – and with the man I would someday marry, I nearly ran into a similar fate. That said, I’m the most road-tripping person I know, and I have gotten way better about car care now that I have kids. I have such big plans for them – starting next week – and hopefully lasting.. forever. Are they up to the task?
1 – Clean and protect your car ANYWHERE and ANYTIME with Armor All.
Yes, it’s that good. I use Armor All Ultra Shine Wash Wipes, Armor All Ultra Shine Wax Wipes, and Armor All Ultra Shine Tire & Trim Shine Sponges. This three step solution set is only available at Walmart, and it’s your absolute go-to for making your car shine anywhere and anytime – no need for a hose, a bucket, and messy soap. Clean and protect your car EASILY.
Not only do we take pride in our car and love to see it shine by washing, waxing and shining it, I can’t believe how easy it is too. This is the perfect solution for all your exterior car cleaning needs – easy as 1, 2, 3!
You can see the shine instantly. I get all THREE products at Walmart in the Automotive Section. All are pre-moistened and treated, so you need nothing else to clean the exterior of your car. No bucket, no soap, no hose, and no buffing.
Take advantage of the $2.00 off any one (1) of the Armor All Ultra Shine Wipes from Walmart, while supplies last!
2 – Oil changes are really important! Don’t be like me! Take your vehicle in for regular oil changes or do if ourself if you’re inclined! Also have the brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant and power-steering fluids checked.
3 – Get your battery checked. Mine kicked it last spring, luckily before we left for any adventures. It’s cheaper to pay for a new battery for your car than it is to pay for a tow truck, a new battery, and any labor and repairs. Trust me!
4 – Traveling with kids? Designate a place in your car for their belongings. If it’s like it is in my car, their items will otherwise fly around. Try to clean frequently. Food and toys and garbage will build up fast.
5 – Clean and protect your windshield. Clean your windshield inside and out. Not only that, replace worn wiper blades for safety. I have gotten adept at this since having kids, although I should have been doing it anyway!
6 – Brakes save lives. It doesn’t cost a lot to get your brakes checked, and most likely your mechanic will look at the whole system. Also make sure your brake lights (and all exterior lights) work as well.
7 – Tires. Do you know how to fix a flat tire? Consider learning before your trip and having all the right tools, at the very least. Learn how to check the air in your tires, as well as the tread depth. We go on mountain roads a lot!

Enjoy the adventure!

Sadly, spring break is over for us. None of us wanted to get going this morning. 🙁
And happy almost anniversary!!
My car needs some serious TLC. With three kids & their sports gear I could use some wash wipes.
XO
hah, I find we never have enough. So I get it! Only two kids and no sports.. yet. And it’s terrible back there!
These are great tips. I’m going to be doing a road trip to Tennessee this summer, so will definitely keep these in mind. I do not know how to fix a flat tire unfortunately. But, I have road side assistance with my car insurance, so never bothered to learn. Thanks for sharing!
You just reminded me I need to get an oil change. But seriously great advice and in the middle of spring break as I type this right now with my kiddos 🙂
I have lots of Armor all stuff, including some I use on my patio furniture. Clearly we both have automobiles on the brain. Just had to get a new tire for my daughter… maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.
You’re so smart, Tamara. I need to take my car in asap for maintenance. I’ve changed a flat but never changed the oil myself. I would love to try these products as our car wash is terrible. Thanks for the tips. I love a spring time road trip and must plan one!
These are great tips. We take a lot of road trips every summer. I always prep the car before we leave with an oil change, and a good cleaning. Armor All is a great brand. We use it often.
Oh gosh these are amazing tips to get ready for a road trip. You see it’s funny because we always think about what to pack, but how often do we think of making sure the car is healthy and ready for travel?
OK, those Armor All products look so cool! I’m the worst at car care, lol. Really great tips. I can’t wait for summer road trips this year.
This post has great timing for me. I’m taking a two week road trip around AZ – UT – NV at the end of the month. I’ve never tried the cleaning wipes for the exterior, but I love this brands interior wipes. I use them monthly!
I’m so clueless when it comes to cars, lol!
Great tips! I too have a lot of armor-all products I use on my exterior and interior, they work great. I know before I hit the road I need to make sure to get a oil change that’s for sure.
Spring Break is over for us. We took a road trip too and these are important tips to consider – especially if you are driving on roads that aren’t heavily populated.
I just came back from a roadtrip last week from Myrtle. It was Spring Break for many of us in Atlanta for 2weeks. Great tips for roadtrippers and I wish I knew Armor All products so I could of had in on the road with me then.
It’s really important to take care of our cars as we entrust our life to it in every roadtrip. Car check? Then family bonding is up next! Great tips Tamara 🙂
Shiny! Plus super easy. I need these in my life. I want road trips this summer and ice cream. I am tired of being cooped up. Maybe I will come head your way and see some moose!
We fly to Italy every summer and yet a road trip seems more daunting to me, lol! I guess we’re just used to traveling by air with little kids!
With a mechanic in the family, I’m forced to take good care of my car :)! Which is lucky because we love road trips!
I’ve always been super sensitive about our brakes. And ensure we get a good once over before every road trip. Because you never know.
It’s true and they’re probably the scariest thing..
Most of us like to make summer trip during summer. To make it successful, we have to prepare our vehicle for that. Components such as brakes, tires, battery, air filter and cooling system are to be given much priority. You should not overlook any issue considering it as minor. It may occur during your mid journey and can be a threat to your enjoyment. You should check all your fluids and change them if needed. Apart from these, you have to carry few necessary tools with you through which you can repair few organs of the vehicle. Its fuel tank should be filled before the start of the trip.
