How to Get the Most Enjoyment Out of Your Garden:
If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, it provides the perfect opportunity to spend some time out in the sunshine and to be surrounded by nature. This is good for both our physical health and mental wellbeing, so you want to be sure to take advantage of your outside space when you can. However, it’s easy to fall out of love with our yards when they start to look a little neglected or don’t quite fulfill the purpose we’re looking for. With that in mind, below are some top tips for how you can get the most enjoyment out of your garden.
Make your outdoor space beautiful
The way that your garden looks is going to make a huge difference to how you feel about it. This is true regardless of the size of your yard or how it’s been designed. A good place to start is with the lawn. Patchy brown grass is going to do nothing to get you excited about spending time in the garden, so make sure you keep it well watered and fed with fertilizer. If you have a large lawn, a riding lawn mower can be a big help in keeping it neat and tidy.
Once you’ve taken care of the grass, it’s time to think about flowerbeds. Try to plant a range of flowers in your favorite colors, choosing breeds that are appropriate for the amount of time and effort you want to put into caring for them. If you want to encourage wildlife to visit your garden, there are varieties of plants you can choose that are especially good at attracting bees and butterflies.
Set up a comfortable seating area
There’s not much point in having a stunningly beautiful garden if there’s nowhere for you to sit and enjoy it! Invest in some comfortable garden furniture to encourage yourself to spend more time outdoors. This could be a table and some chairs for a patio or decking area where you can eat and drink, or something more casual to go on the lawn itself. You might also want to think about having some sort of covering to protect you from the rain or midday sun. This could be as simple as an umbrella, or a more permanent structure like a gazebo. If you want to spend some time outdoors in the evening, consider adding an atmospheric string of fairy lights or some solar powered lamps.
Stock up on accessories
As well as furniture and lighting, there are lots of other accessories you can add to your garden to make it a more enjoyable place to spend time. For example, you could install a water feature for a more calming atmosphere, some ornaments to add a little detail and personality to the space, a feeder to attract birds, or even a fire pit if you want to be able to use your garden in cooler weather too.
There are also lots of lawn games you can buy for garden parties or having fun with the kids!
