We have been coming here for over 10 years and what’s one constant we can find here every time? CHIPS AHOY!, of course! This was the first year that I provided the cookies! I got them from the cookies/crackers grocery aisle of my closest Dollar General, and I brought them in three varieties because I’d never do anything halfway! And the kids are IN LOVE with CHIPS AHOY! Chewy. In fact, it’s a perfect snack to pair with Xbox! So, definitely keep reading for more info on a free 1-month Xbox Game Pass and video game party tips! So many of my favorite things.

Now, let’s talk about video game parties. I’ve noticed that they’ve really picked up in popularity in the last year or so with kids in my kids’ grades. We got an Xbox One X last year and I fell in love with it! It’s so much fun to take my childhood love of video gaming to the next level and show my kids how cool I can be with all those games! (Ok, I’m not as good as I used to be,) So, we’re all about sharing how to host a video game party—and an awesome one at that. It doesn’t take much, but these simple tips will have you hosting in no time! Ready to host your own party?
Have your console and controllers completely ready.
Having a party around a computer isn’t the same as a console, so get out that Xbox One X! Make sure you have a big TV, stick to one console, have extra controllers (make sure they’re charged or you have batteries), and settle on one or two games as well! It’s best to have that all planned out before the party or playdate. You want to have enough first.
You should plan for comfort. Have your console set up in a room with lots of chairs; couches; and coffee, end, or side tables. You’re going to need it, especially if it will be a long party. Sometimes kids are happy with just sitting on pillows or blankets on the floor. We like to make little stations for each gamer with a name card and comfort items, especially if it’s not a couch space or chair.
Have a signature drink!
A signature drink. It’s fun to have a kid-friendly drink for the party—like a punch or smoothie. This can be themed with the video game they’re playing or we like to do milk and cookies!
Put out board games too.
Hear me out on this! Kids are going to need to take video game breaks! That way, they’re still using their gaming brains but away from the screen. Since you already have the snacks, drinks, and setup, have a few board games going as well. It’s really the ultimate gamer party this way!
Snacks are key.
#AD Well, of course they are! As I mentioned above, you get a free 1-month of Xbox Game Pass when you purchase CHIPS AHOY! Cookies and Xbox Live Gold 3-Month Card at participating Dollar General stores. Well, it’s the perfect place to get snacks! They’re always easy to find, and you’ll find exactly what you need. I love to put out a plate of cookies for kids to share and cold glasses of milk. Plan to have the serving size amount (3 cookies) for each guest and have a variety of CHIPS AHOY! cookies.
