My love of homemade Pop Tarts is pretty obscene.

It’s such a specific thing that I look for it everywhere I go. How often am I actually rewarded? Well, not often. That’s why I take matters in my own hands and make them. You remember my Adorable Mini Pop Tart Recipe, right? Let’s take it to the streets, and to Halloween. This is what your kids really want for Halloween. This, and full-sized candy bars. Ask me how I know. It’s because I have kids and I am still a kid at heart. Always have been, and surely always will be.

Plus, the mummy theme is always good, right? Not too played out? Scarlet went on The Mummy roller coaster at Universal Orlando after Cassidy convinced her to go on it, but no one has convinced me.. yet. I seem to struggle with the indoor roller coasters. No fresh air.

To get that refreshing feeling in your lungs. The way Homemade Pop Tarts make you feel!

Homemade Pop Tarts for Halloween:

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
Servings: 4

What You Need:

1 can of fruit pie filling of your choice
2 Ready-made pie crusts
Candy eyes
1 Tbsp melted butter
Cinnamon sugar

What You Do:

1 – First, preheat the oven to 375 degrees

2 – Then, roll out one pie crust on a counter, and cut off the rounded edges to make a square shape

3 – Cut the square pie crust into four equal rectangular shapes

4 – Place the pie filling into a blender or food processor to break up the large pieces of fruit

5 – Smooth 2 teaspoons of pie filling in an even layer over the top of each of the four pie crust squares

6 – Roll out the other pie crust, and cut it in half lengthwise, and then cut each half of the pie crust into long thin strips

7 – Place strips along the top of the fruit layered crust pieces, and pinch the edges underneath to seal them

8 – Continue to criss-cross strips of pie crust dough to make the pastries look like a mummy – and be sure to leave some room for the candy eyes towards the top of each pastry

9 – Bake the pastries on a parchment lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through

10 – Brush 1 Tbsp of melted butter over the pastries, and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar

11 – And lastly, press two candy eyes into the front of each mummy fruit pastry and serve

  2. Those are so cute!! A really fun Halloween treat (along with the full size candy bars! I still remember which houses gave out the full size candy bars on our block when I was little!)
