Homemade Milano Cookies Recipe:

What You Need:

Equipment:
Parchment Paper
Baking Sheet
Rules
Marker
Piping Bag
Scissors
Microwave Safe Bowls
Hand or stand mixer

Prep: 30 mins
Cook Time: 10-12 mins
Total: 42 mins
Yield: 12 cookies

2 cups all purpose flour, scooped and leveled
1 Tbsp corn starch
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, room temp
½ cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, brought to room temp
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp milk

Semi Sweet Ganache:
1 cup heavy cream
8 oz, semi sweet chocolate

What You Do:

1 – First, preheat the oven to 400 degrees, and then start making the ganache:

2 – Heat cream in a small saucepan, and once it begins to simmer (don’t let it boil), remove it from heat and pour it over chocolate.

3 – Let it sit for 3 minutes and then stir it with a rubber spatula; then place in the fridge to firm up for about 30 minutes.

4 – Once you set it aside, place your egg in a bowl of warm water to bring to room temperature.

5 – Draw 10 two and a half inch lines on the parchment paper and space them 3 inches apart to account for spreading.

6 – Then, turn the parchment over and place on the baking sheet.

7 – In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.

8 – In a stand mixer or with a hand held mixer, mix together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar.

9 – Mix until lighter in color, and fluffy, and then add in the egg, vanilla, and milk.

10 – Lastly, add in your dry ingredients and mix well (no dry spots).

11 – Cut 1.5 inches off of the tip of your piping bag – it helps to use a ruler.

12 – Place the bag in a tall cup, spoon cookie dough inside of it, and then twist at the bottom.

13 – Pipe lines of cookie dough, following the lines you made on the parchment earlier, and then press down gently.

14 – Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, and then cool on a cooling rack for at least 10 minutes.

15 – Assemble the cookies by spreading ganache on the flat side of each cookie, and top with another.
