Hawaiian Chicken Sliders: Building My Perfect Lunchbox For My Kids
Honestly, life goals there. Kindergarten and first grade were easy transitions for both kids, but they were hard for me. My kids are thriving and excited to start second and fifth grades! And I’m trying to piece together all the transitions! One thing that makes the changing of seasons, grades, and years easier for me is to get organized but in a fun way. That way, I stop feeling overwhelmed when Labor Day weekend ends and school begins. In that big whirlwind!
Oh yes, it’s back to school time. And we must also talk about the fact that Hawaiian Chicken Sliders are SO GOOD! This Hawaiian Chicken Slider recipe is perfect for this time of year. It makes a wonderful weeknight or weekend dinner – all warm and tangy and delicious. That said, I think I like it even better to pop into a lunchbox as is. It’s a wonderful part of school lunch. I can’t think of anything better than a meal that will get your kid to eat their whole lunch!
Why We Love King’s Hawaiian!
The thing is, the world is your oyster in terms of school lunch making, if you have some good products and some good inspiration. I love King’s Hawaiian because they offer a variety of products that make for an exciting meal time. I mean, this line of bread offerings is so delicious and is great for even the most creative of lunches! What we love is that the unique flavor of King’s Hawaiian bread allows it to be used in a variety of recipes, ranging from sweet to savory. We love to make Bacon Avocado Sliders, or BLTs with avocado. In terms of sweet, have you ever tried Raspberry Nutella French Toast with King’s Hawaiian? Or Balsamic Chicken Sandwiches!
I don’t love the start of the school year always, because summer is amazing, but I do love getting creative with lunches. And King’s Hawaiian products are an easy way to make school lunches special for the kids, and they allow creativity to shine through unique, exciting recipes.
Hawaiian Chicken Sliders:
What You Need:
Fully cooked breaded chicken cutlets, rounded
4 King’s Hawaiian Rolls of choice
4 squares of cheese of choice (we did white cheddar)
3-4 Tbsp teriyaki glaze
4-8 slices or pineapple rings
Round or square sandwich cutters
For 2 lunchboxes
What You Do:
1 – First cook the chicken cutlets, or heat up already cooked ones – and let cool
2 – We like to cut them into circles or squares to be perfectly slider sized
3 – Start to assemble your sliders by slicing the rolls and putting chicken on each one
4 – Then drizzle teriyaki glaze over each one
5 – And then it’s time to add cheese and then pineapple and then the top of the roll
6 – Put it all together and enjoy!
And of course, I make my lunchboxes more neat than this and with more wrapping material, but this is an overview of what works best for us. Sliders, a fruit, almonds, yogurt, and cheese!
