Gone Fishing: Fun Felt Fishing Game

Looking for a fun #DIY craft to do with your kids? This Fun Felt Fishing Game (say that three times fast) is sure to win them over. Catch a big fish! #games

If I had a photo of a “Gone Fishing” sign, I’d put it right here.

I’m not REALLY fishing, at least I don’t think I am, but I am taking a MUCH needed R&R break in Truro for a few days. This is our annual trip, and I’ve been working myself to the bone – taking on six days of work in only three days – just so I can accomplish a few days of eating ice cream and reading on the beach. I’ve been working myself to the bone – taking on six days of work in only three days – WHILE keeping the kids home from camp this week. With us leaving for our trip mid-week, I didn’t spend the money to send them to camp. I should have spent the money! They WANT camp. They WANT routine.

They’re making me bring out the big guns.. er.. big fish. I would do anything to keep them occupied:

Fishing Game

Fun Tamara Fact: Tim Burton’s Big Fish is one of my favorite movies, but I’ve only seen it once, as I do with most movies.

Second Fun Tamara Fact: I only ever read my blog posts once, after publishing, because then it leads to lifelong cringing.

Third Fun Tamara Fact: My birthday is in five days. Eeep!

Now I will be back, before long, with more stories than ever – all piling up and waiting for me to unwrap them – with shiny photos and shiny words. It takes me awhile sometimes, but I’ll get there. It’s not a long trip, but gosh, will I come back more refreshed than ever! There is SO MUCH going on with us this summer still. We’re heading to Cape Cod once, and the kids are going twice. I’m meeting Tim Curry and seeing John Williams and sending Scarlet to a cabin with her best friend’s family for three days. We’ll head to New Jersey, via New York, and blast Sia radio on Pandora during the whole thing.

And then the big thing, the big FISH, will start at the end of the summer.

We’re beginning some pretty major home renovations. Who knows what will come? You’ll see it unfold as I do.

  1. Aw, have a wonderful trip and I was reading this thinking you sounded similar to me right before we left for Disney two weeks ago. I also worked myself like crazy to get the few days off and I came back refreshed, but as you know still missing vacation a bit. Still while on vacation it was all good and worth as I did enjoy all I could with my gang. So, again that is my my wish for you now, too!! Hugs my friend <3

  2. We had something like this and then we lost it and the fishing rod broke. I need to get my act together and make a new one. Pinned!

Have fun on your trip 🙂

  3. I went to a local museum two weekends ago and they had all these pieces of felt for kids to make art on the felt wall. I thought it was genius. Such a simple concept. I had no idea that felt could be so fun!

  4. Fun fact: Big Fish was filmed in my Granny’s home town, Wetumpka, Alabama. I used to go there twice a year growing up. Loved the movie but we were all preoccupied with pointing out all the places we knew.

  5. Big Fish is one of my most favorite movies ever!!! It’s so beautiful and magical and wonderful. Which reminds me, I’ve never shown it to the boys. Hope you have the most wonderful vacation!
