Can we talk right now about getting healthy as a family?
As you know, my health is super important to me because my father passed away suddenly when he had two young children. In many ways, I wanted to be nothing like him – health wise – because I have two young children of my own. I hold my health accountable with the FitTrack app and scale, and with a series of easy lifestyle decisions I’ll get into in this post. Did you know that 80% of people fail to maintain their health goals? That’s a high number! That’s why I love that we’ve found a way to get a clearer picture of our health, as a family, with an easy to use body smart scale that measures weight, body fat percentage, muscle, and BMI all in one step.
First, let’s talk about the scale:
The scales use advanced Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology – which means that when you stand on a FitTrack monitor, a very low, safe electrical signal is sent from four metal electrodes through your feet to your legs and abdomen. Then, this electrical signal passes quickly through water that is present in hydrated muscle tissue but meets resistance when it hits fat tissue. This resistance is known as impedance. Body composition measurements are provided in under 20 seconds, depending on the monitor.
What’s included in your FitTrack scale?
Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Connectivity (Includes App)
Weight Tracking Management for Multiple Users
Vibrant LCD Display
Supports Android 4.3, iOS 8 and newer versions
Power: Four (4) AAA Batteries (not Included)
Scale Range: Up to 400 pounds (181.437 kilograms)
Some tips for the scales, especially with kids:
- Make sure to stay on the scale and stay STILL until the measurement is completed
Place your scale on a stable and even surface, like a tiled floor, for accurate readings
Wait 2-3 seconds in between users so the display can turn off
Set goals and track your results easily with the FitTrack Pro App
Why is FitTrack so great for families?
Well I’m so glad you asked! The scale (and app) give you a chance to view your health holistically. There are 17 indicators that include everything from muscle mass to hydration rate, base metabolic rate (BMR), and more. There are two modes – Athlete Mode or Family Mode. We use Family Mode so we can track all four family members. With the FitTrack Scale and app it’s so motivating to take better care of yourself – because of the 17 indicators! That’s so much information, and it’s not too much information. In fact, it’s just right for getting healthy as a family.
Plus it’s super easy to connect to your phone through bluetooth. Then you have everything you need with the touch of your finger. Being able to see your health progress is the most motivating piece of this. Being able to view the effects of your diet and exercise on your body is nothing short of genius. When you have the ability to trend your long-term data, then you can view long-term health trends and compare health metics with previous ones. And lastly, the scale allows up to 8 users independent synchronization.
How can I get the app?
Right now you can get 20% off your scale (remember that the app is free) by using the coupon code: Tamara20. I’ll say that again for the people in the back. 20% off your own FitTrack Scale by using coupon code: Tamara20. Trust me when I say it pays off:
Getting healthy as a family:
Cassidy is happiest when he’s outside with his hands in the dirt or sand – there’s never been any question about that! What I really love is that his outdoors time promotes health and wellness for all of us! It’s the exercise he gets while building, digging, squatting, walking, and lifting. It’s the nutrition he gets for himself and all of us, through the organic berry and vegetable gardens. And it’s the mental and emotional satisfaction he gets from doing something he truly loves outside.
It inspires us all. We’re not all built the same way. I like to sit inside in the air-conditioning a lot, reading a book or editing photos. The kids love to run around outside while helping Cassidy, but they have their limits. What I do know is that he has set an example of how to get find balance with work and play, and how to use something you already love and cherish to your advantage. It’s a message to all of us that we don’t have to be in the garden as much as he is – BUT, we can work together to achieve better overall health. We’ve found seven ways to get healthy as a family, with Cassidy as an inspiration.
1 – We let the kids plan and help prepare dinner at least once a week.
2 – We exercise together at home.
3 – And we play together at least once a day.
4 – We dance together.
5 – And, we tell our kids stories at bedtime, and have them tell us stories too.
6 – We keep a family calendar/goals chart.
7 – We all four decrease screen time on weeknights and weekends.
*And for a bonus tip, we are dreamers and we dream together and plan dreams into action, whenever possible.
