Fashion Photography Tips for Selfies
If you have managed to make it this far into the world without taking a selfie, we would honestly be stumped for words. Pictures are now used to document everything, from the best dinners we have had to when our makeup looks ‘on point’, and if we have learned anything over the past year or so, it is making memories and being able to cherish them is important.
Now we are getting out and about again and have a reason to do our eyebrows and change out of our sweatpants; it is time to remind ourselves how to get those angles just right and make the transition out of fleece-like material into something a little more uncomfortable and a little more flattering.
More is More with Makeup
When it comes to photographs, makeup can be difficult to get to show up, even if we feel like we already have enough of it on.
If you are doing your makeup specifically for a selfie, then do not be afraid to pile it on top. This is one of the best ways for you to help your makeup look vibrant and detailed on camera, even though it might look a little full-on in person.
Check your Lighting
Lighting is crucial to any photograph, but it can enhance or downplay different features when we are taking a selfie. For example, having lighting right above your head can encourage dark circles to cast under your eyes, whereas having a light on one side of your face will cast your other side in a dark shadow. So play around with what looks best for you and then snap to your heart’s content!
Think About the Outfit
Another key component to taking a good selfie is what you are wearing, of course! If you are opting for a headshot, then focus on a super cool tee; you can find plenty to choose from at 8ball vintage t shirts, and grab some accessories to finish off the look. This is the fastest way to look put together but with an injection of your personality too!
For those who are going for the full outfit and need something quick and easy, a good route is to color coordinate.
But if you want to wear matching double denim, or green and blue together – you go for it. It is 2021.
Pick Your Background
A great selfie sure needs a great background; otherwise, you might find that the focus ends up on what a group of people are up to behind you in the distance or the clothes that have been strewn over the bed in preparation for finding the perfect outfit, instead of on your perfect pose. This will just not do.
While you will want to remain the star of the show, your background must not be distracting, cluttered, or dull unless your selfie is close up.
So, there you have it! Simple tips to make sure your selfie stands out – imminent likes pending!
I always struggle with backgrounds, I have no idea why! Thanks for the tips friend.
