I Got You Babe.

Forget everything I said on my last post…mostly. About the November Blues. I was overreacting to a cold.

Today is a day of cold November Rain, and not the good Guns N’ Roses kind, but the chilling, late fall kind that makes you homebound and clinging to your fireplace by 4:00pm. ‘Cause 4:00pm looks quite like 7:00pm should, when it’s cold November Rain. ‘Cause nothing’ lasts forever, even cold November Rain. ‘Cause sometimes it really sucks, in the cold November Rain.

“So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
Even cold November rain”
— Guns N’ Roses

Scarlet and I compiled a list of things to love in November. Much to my surprise, there are plenty of things to love about November and I think I realize that (nearly) every year. There’s a November Zone, and I find myself wildly participatory in it.

Things like:

– The fact that leaves are still falling, and foliage is somewhat muted, but still golden, amber, red and even green.
– You usually see your first snowflakes in November, even if they’re just flurries.
– Thanksgiving is pretty cool. — Scarlet
– Some people put up their Christmas lights very early, and it’s fun to drive around and shout, “Lights!” when you see them.
– When the pellet stove is blaring, fresh popcorn is being (home)made on the stove, and you can see the ridiculously tall pine trees reflected by the moon out the window. Oh, those ski lodge nights. There is a lot to love.
– There are a wicked number of babies born in November. What makes February so special anyway? Oh. Right. Valentine’s Day.

Babies, babies everywhere. For this week’s Ladies Only Blog Share Link Party, we are paying homage to everything baby in honor of baby Luca – born to our fearless leader Crystal of Mommifried. Whether you have a baby, or a special niece, nephew, or friend, or whether you ever were a baby (so I guess this means everyone), link up your posts about anything or everything baby.

There is never too much baby, right?

  1. Babies are totally born in November and my Lily is so proof of this. Cannot believe she will be 3 years old in only a few short weeks. Linked up earlier and you know I always love joining in with you on this every other week!! And Scarlet is so right that there are a lot of wonderful things still to love about this time of year 🙂

  2. Are you ready for this? I don't know one single person who was born in November. Crazy, right? I do, however, know a ton of people who were born in May. So, uhhhh… explain to me what's so special about August.

    • Kristen, that’s so weird!!!! And yes, I know hundreds born in May. I guess it’s because August is so sultry, humid, sweaty, hot, and maybe some people like that sort of thing? Both of my kids were born in June/July so apparently we don’t like August, but we sure like what follows it!

  3. I can't wait to read all the baby posts!! Who doesn't love all things baby?! Speaking of babies—you sure do make beautiful babies. WOW! Your pictures are just stunning! I've never seen that first one of Scarlet before. HER EYELASHES!! Oh, just gorgeous. (and Des and Scarlet look a lot alike as babies!!) Happy weekend! –Lisa

  4. I will never get so old that I stop enjoying the wonder of driving around and yelling "lights!" when I see Christmas lights.

Your baby pictures are so beautiful.

  5. We've already had snow here as well and not flurries, the real stuff. I love anything baby although I'm happy with my own baby growing up and being the very last baby. My baby is finally saying words like "I need you" which makes me feel so special. Loving the photos of the kids as babies and I have to say "Congrats" to Mommifried on Baby Luca.

  6. AW!!! Those pictures are so PRECIOUS!!! And who hasn't been "there" with a cold- feeling crummy and crabby and well, disjointed and discouraged. We all have, my friend.

YAY for Crystal!!! YAY for BABIES!!! XO

  7. Did I ever tell you that I wanted to name my first Scarlet, if HE had been a girl? My husband didn't really like it because he likes nicknames and he was all, "What would we call her for short, Scar??" Whatever. Anyway, I love that awesome name. 🙂

  8. It does seem like there are babies everywhere. And I hope you feel better soon mama. No sickness. Get it outta here!

I like November too .. I'm very much appreciating it while being in sunny Arizona with my 84 degree weather days and my cool, crisp nights so it still feels like Autumn. I can't wait to start decorating for Christmas!

  9. I love November! It’s like the calm before the major holiday storm! Beautiful scenery outside, it’s not too cold out yet and it’s my husband’s birthday! He hates his birthday but I like it!

  10. I just love the idea of making a list of things to love about November. I think I need to do the same for Jan., Feb., and Mar. since I struggle with those months. Great idea, Tamara. Even better that you did it with Scarlet.

  11. I hear that. I love babies too but I'm happy to think about Des probably being the last of them. Especially today when we went to a huge touristy place and he was obnoxious and I thought, "Wait..people have more than two of these?"

  12. I'm so glad you are feeling better! I love when you talk about the sights and discoveries that you in the kids make. I appreciate you sharing your struggles too. It's all you, right? Yay! It's baby time! 🙂

  13. Ummm..I have a Nov. baby (he will be 15 Sunday) and I never once put the Valentine's connection together with his B-day! (I'm really slow to catch on to things.)

  14. Beautiful babies – lovely eyes 🙂

The only person I ever knew born in November was my Grandmother – my family the big month is April – at least 5 in April.

    Have a great weekend 🙂

  15. November Rain is one of my favorites! Indeed it is true, it is getting really cold, and wet here. I love the baby post! Oh if I have time I should look for a favorite to come back and link!
The baby pictures here are almost life-like and crystal clear! Wow

  16. Friend. These huge linkups totally intimidate me but I’m going to go find a baby post that I can share here. Because YOU. And yeah. to the November Rain and that sigh. Babies. I wish I had another one. Also? I’ll say it again. I want you to take photos of my baby. Who is now four.

    • That is so sweet. Don’t be intimidated. Use the force! Maybe you’ll have another baby? I desperately don’t want one. At least not right now. And why haven’t I taken photos yet?? I’m such a slacker.

  17. I have NOT been liking November. Thanks for the nice list. Scarlet is pretty cool. Love the pics. Especially the one with Des in the choker. The look on his face is perfect.

  18. I think that November and I have an on-and-off relationship. I think that maybe it's because the cold seems to settle in for keeps and I'm usually not quite ready for it. Oy. Those photos are killing me! So much cuteness.

    • I hear that about November. I’ve been pregnant during two Novembers, and very early pregnant, so I always remember so much in one. The yuckiness of being nauseated by everything..as well as the sweetness and hope.

  19. Awww! Babies. I want one! In my family we did celebrate too many November birthdays. Actually, I can’t think of any. Maybe I’ll pop one out next November. Prayers!

  20. Sweet November babies – I never thought of it like that. We must have been spring fever babies in this house – all three us including my mom were born in December. Love your pics. Makes me want to lift him right out of this post. Glad you are feeling better. Everything is 10 times worse when mom doesn't feel good.

  21. I love the November zone, its a really nice transitional period. I have started taking november as a time of preparation for the winter almost like how bears hibernate for the winter. The links look great as usual 🙂 I hope I can catch up enough to take a look see!

  22. I am all linked up. I need to be your next Ask Away Friday partner….I just purchased myself a new lens…. a 28 1.8 for my Cannon hoping this will be my saving grace to the doomed light in my house for photos….and I am going to ask all 10 questions about cameras. 🙂 Ha! Seriously, I will…because all of your pictures are always so amazing.
