For me with blogging, it still means posting two or three times a week, and it still means reading all of your beautiful posts, but it just means that I’m not burning the midnight oil on my posts. Maybe less words and more photos. Maybe less photos and more words. More punch in shorter posts. I didn’t know what to do about the historically long Ask Away Friday post!

I mentioned that I wanted it to be interesting to people who don’t watch Doctor Who, so I wanted to be asking/answering questions that you don’t necessarily need to watch the show to understand, because it’s more about lives and dreams.
Thank Goodness it’s #AskAwayFriday! Get to know our new hosts, meet our new co-host, and grab our new logo! Be sure to see Live By Surprise’s answers to my questions HERE. And here are my answers to her questions:
1. If you could pick one event in history (not in your own timeline) to photograph, what would it be? Would you try to change it?
I’m very obsessed with size (not meant in a dirty way) and I’ve always been obsessed with The Titanic. Like, really obsessed. I’d love to photograph it ABOUT to set off in the majestic sea, with all of those people waving. All of their hopes and dreams and lives. After the photography, I’d stop the boat from going. I’d find a way. Do something. Anything to make it not go!
2. If you could pick one person (past, present or future) to meet this afternoon for tea and crumpets – who would it be and why?
I would pick my father! There are lots of people I’d like to meet, but I’d like to start with getting to know who my father was.

3. What is your favorite Dr. Who themed outfit or item of clothing? (Picture required – and one of your children or Cassidy can be wearing it).
I really like the idea of a TARDIS dress. I have a nice homemade one but I wore it while pregnant so I always felt so lumpy in it. I really want this one at Think Geek. They have it in red Dalek form too, but I don’t like being a villain very much.

4. If you could have a British accent, would you? Who would you try it out on first? (Bonus points if you put up a video of you trying out your Brit).
haha, no bonus points for me, sadly. Yes, I would have one. I think they’re sexy. They’re so sexy that I was wondering what the actor who played Sir Dax in the Halloween episode of “Sofia The First” looks like in real life, because his accent is HOT.
5. Which one is “your” Doctor? Why?
I don’t really know! I probably first saw episodes with Tom Baker, but they bored me to tears. (please don’t hate) I know I saw 10th doctor episodes, but I really started consistently watching with the 11th doctor (Matt Smith) and then going back and watching all of the 9th and 10th doctor seasons. So the 11th doctor is probably “my Doctor”, because his seasons are when I fell in love with the show. And bow ties are cool.

6. You’re dropped in the middle of London (England) for a day and can meet with anyone/do anything. What do you do?
I’d meet with my blogger friend Angela from Little Apple Tree. She has the coolest adventures with her family in England so I’d have her meet me in the city to show me all of the amazing things she wants to show me! And I’d probably go on a shopping spree for English candy. I’d definitely want to leave the city too. Can I do that? I’m not a city girl, but I’d make exceptions. I’d need to rent/bring a wide lens to take to the Tower of London to see the poppies.
7. An alien lands in your backyard. Do you go out and find out if he’s friendly or do you call the army? Why?
I definitely wouldn’t call the Army. I’d probably.. tiptoe out.. With my camera, of course.
8. Which villain do you think is the scariest (new or old series)? Are there any episodes you won’t let the kids watch?
I think the Weeping Angels still scare me the most. I can feel the hair on back of my neck stand up just writing it! Des doesn’t watch any Doctor Who, but Scarlet will watch episodes that we have watched first to determine if she can handle them!
9. The last episode was about alien antibodies. When was the last time you were so sick you couldn’t move?
Last winter I got a cold that was terrible. It lasted eleven days, which is ridiculous. However, the sickest I’ve gotten in over a decade was two years ago, right after Des was born. Scarlet had a terrible cold while Des was in the NICU, so she couldn’t visit him. When we finally got him home, my resistance was so down from the hospital stress and the postpartum exhaustion that I caught her bad cold. I never catch her colds! It mutated into a sinus infection, and then I became allergic to the antibiotics I was on, so I developed full body hives. WHILE sleepless and nursing a newborn. Plus my grandfather died during it. AND I was in the middle of a 40 hour work project. That I couldn’t afford to decline. During all of that.

10. Doctor Who has had some amazing companions. What makes you a good companion?
I’m not saying it never happens, but if at all possible, I don’t say “no.” I’m up for adventures, or giving a shoulder to cry on, or offering help with writing and photography. Whatever I can do to help you? I’m there.
*****Did anyone notice that my post title is a bit of a grab from the Steely Dan song, “Doctor Wu”? If so, cookies for you!

I seriously have always had a thing for the Titanic and the time period in history. So didn’t shock me that you answered tha way, because we aren’t twins for nothing!! 😉
We are totally twins! I remember reading a lot of books about it when I was sick once in the summer in eighth-grade. Or in between grades, rather. Why was I sick in the summer??
I was sick once in the summer and man was that miserable. Seriously never sick in the summer and probably just another reason that I love that time of the year! 😉
Although the last time I was very sick, as I described above, it was summer!
Yikes and definitely not a fan of summer sickness, because you are right that one time I was sick I had bronchitis and even had my ear clog up. No fun!!
Although neither of my kids were sick ALL spring or summer. Sigh.
Look, I’m an early commenter! There is a first time for everything! I need to watch Doctor Who so I know what you are talking about! Photographing the Titanic would have been amazing. I definitely would have helped you stop it!
Yay for being early! I have been about a day or two late with everyone all week. I don’t catch up with all bloggers, but I sure do try!
I recently took one of those Facebook quizzes that said I died in a past life aboard the Titanic. Which is tres tragic. Of course, it also said my fiance died that way, so maybe we were the sweet old couple who died in their bed. Which is still tragic.
Anyway…
Now I want to have a Doctor marathon. Except for the ones with the angels, they are not okay.
The angels give me the chills!
I always thought I died on the Titanic too, because I’m so fascinated by it. Maybe we were all there!
If you stopped the Titanic from going, you might rip the fabric of time! Maybe they would live but we wouldn’t be here! Only maybe though… This post made me miss Quantum Leap and Scott Bakula. LOL
Ha! I totally agree with you. A lot of characters in time travel come to this kind of thing. They don’t want to change the fabric of time, but it would be so hard to resist, right?
That photo of little Des and Scarlet in the moose shirts is ridiculously cute. However, I do not like the so sick you couldn’t move answer. That just sound terrible! And bow ties are totally cool.
Thank you for sympathizing about my sickness! It was so awful that I became completely scarred about anyone in my family getting sick. Which of course happens, but not a whole lot.
Ask Away Fridays are such a fun read Tamara! Could that be you in the last cool pic with the nice bright smile, and hands on hips? Lovely pics of Scarlet and Des.
That last photo is not me! It was a headshot I took for a friend who was starting a granola business.
Tamara, you know me I think well enough to tell me…do you think I would like Doctor Who? I hear so much about it that I think I want to see an episode or two to see. This was such a good idea for you two as fans of the show. I concur about you being a great companion, at least based on what you share and how great of a friend you’ve been to me in the last year or so that I’ve known you….or has it been closer to two years? I so love that you shared how you survived that tough time when Des was born. I could only imagine what you must have been feeling and thinking. That picture of Des and Scarlet when he was a little baby gives me goosebumps. I can’t help but think about what it will be like taking pictures of my two little ones when the new baby gets here. 🙂
Has it really been closer to two years already? That is shocking! You’ve been a wonderful blogging friend. And friend.
It’s tough to say about the show. I didn’t think I would like it but I did. Maybe give it a whirl!
I love the Doctor Who theme! So interesting to ponder all the questions. I agree about the Weeping Angels – very scary. Confession: I went back to watch some of Tom Baker’s episodes with David (4 is his Doctor) and… I have fallen asleep. Don’t hate me, either. 🙂
Ha! I don’t know what my deal is with him. To Cassidy, he is still so magical. Well I really do like him, it’s just the old episodes are too much for me.
I am fascinated by Titanic so I’d probably want to photograph that too and I’d help you stop it too. I made a mistake last night that had Mateo mad at me: the kids started yelling excitedly when Frank came home: “You are here! You are here! You are here!” which had Frank completely confused. I wanted to explain that they watched Horton Hears A Who but at the same time I was for some reason thinking about Dr. Who so I tripped up and said they watched Dr. Who. Mateo thought it was a blasphemy while I meekly tried to explain that because of Dr. Seuss and Who in the name I had a brain tripping moment and Dr. Who just came out as a shortened version of “They watched Dr. Seuss’s Horton hears a Who”.
Okay, that is hilarious. I could definitely see mixing those two up! How did Frank like his peanut butter cups? How did you?
They were awesome! Thank you again! It was funny because we both kinda blurted out at the same time we should write a post about Reese’s cups!
I hope you do! I’m so into hearing about how things are after many years without them. And Scarlet is so interested in the story.
OMG LOVE the shot of the kids with the moose t-shirts on! What a moment you captured there!!!! That is one of your best!!!
Well I appreciate that so much because that was just a phone photo from my old phone!
Oh, the Weeping Angels are the scariest by far! One night when Lily couldn’t sleep, she watched the one where the plastic comes to life and the mannikins start attacking London. It was so corny that it didn’t scare her at all, but I also don’t think she was impressed. I’ll have to watch another one with her soon!
I think the mannequins would scare Scarlet! Although I agree about the corniness.
Best #AAF ever!! What fun you’d have in London (I love English sweets too) – and Paul McGann is hunky. I think you’d make an amazing companion and am embarrassed to note that I don’t know the song (hope they don’t revoke my fan club card)! Thanks so much for a great swap this week!!
Thank you so much for a wonderful swap. It was just what I needed. And I really need to go to England now!
My niece married a man from England and all of the family members will have him say words sometimes, just because they sound so much cooler with an accent! What a fun Ask Away Friday! I tried to watch Dr. Who, now that it’s on Netflix and kept falling asleep! My husband says I am lame, but some day I will watch tv again without being narcoleptic. Have a great weekend!
It’s such a thing. I often fall asleep while watching TV, even good TV. And then my list on the DVR just keeps building because I can’t get through a show!
I love these posts. Your dad was so handsome. I always say my mom, when asked who I’d have lunch with (unless they say it has to be a “famous” or “historical” figure. And the picture of your kids on the couch (or in front of?) is divine!
Thank you about the photo! I think it was in front of the couch. I agree that unless it says celebrity or figure in history, I always choose my father!
If you stopped the Titanic you would have ruined the career of Leonardo DeCaprio. But if you can live with that, them I’m okay. Is it sad of me to say the last time I watched Dr. Who it was in the 70s? It came right on after the Muppet Show at 7:30pm so I got to watch both shows right before bedtime. Which just proves that PBS programming was very strange back then.
That’s when Cassidy watched it! Although he fell in love with it for life.
I have never watched Doctor Who, but I’ve heard such good things about it, I need to get in on that bandwagon!! Fun questions!!
Thanks! Needed a fun theme to swap. It’s a very cool show!
I knows nothing about Doctor who, but I respect the fan following! I think I have a pretty sick British accent, but it has lost a bit of its kick as the years have gone by…I am so obsessed with the Brits! I need to just go to London and be done with it.
Me too!!! We need a conference there.
You know, I’ve never seen Doctor Who? Maybe I should? The funny thing about British accents is that sometime in the last year, Everett all of a sudden started speaking with a slight British accent. I didn’t notice it at first my family did. I have no idea how or why he started doing it but it’s the cutest thing ever and now I catch myself mimicking him sometimes! Oy, and being sick. I’ve been sick all week! It stinks. I think it would be amazing to photograph the Titanic and then stop it from going of course!
That is so cute! Scarlet and now even Des do a funny “hello” in a British accent.
In fact, I should really get a video of it!
I knew the answer to question two before I read the answer. You have been mentioning your dad a lot lately and I’m not sure you realize it :). The anniversary of my own dad’s death is coming up in a few weeks and I’m dreading it. I have to be honest and say that I’ve only watched Dr. Who a few times and I’m not obsessed with it like some people are. I guess it was because I couldn’t get a hang of it. I may just have to re-watch from the very beginning and “get” it. 🙂 Here’s to a great weekend!
Totally thinking of my dad a lot lately. It comes and goes in waves throughout life. I guess that’s just my way.
I hope you have a great weekend too, my dear!
Alright, I think I need to start watching Dr. Who. And everytime I see a Tardis I now think of you!
I think if you are dropped in London, you definitely need to venture outside the city, or at the very least take a train so you can see the countryside, which is so beautifully green. Or at least it was over 10 years ago the last time I was there.
Definitely! I would totally go to Paris, but it’s the idea of the French countryside that really excites me. I really am a country girl.
Love the Doctor Who themed questions! It would be cool to see the Titanic in person, and the last time you were really sick sounds downright awful.
It was so terrible! Just adding to the fact that I was recovering from having a baby and being in trauma that he couldn’t come home with us for an extra week.
Then I decided to say yes to a data entry job. Oh, and get a penicillin allergy that I had never had before!
Lol for #7 definitely stay in the house and see what it’s intentions are looking like. Jeez thankfully I don’t have a backyard, just a parking lot 😛 Survival of the fittest bishes! Take your break boo – it’s necessary. I take it slow a lot of times too because otherwise you’ll be online 24/7 and it’s enough I work in IT – need to decrease the amount of time a day I spent sucking face with my laptop. Time to bake cookies! Have a great weekend love! -Iva
You can’t leave me hanging here! What kind of cookies? Do I get any?
And yes, I don’t really know what I do about aliens. Maybe I’d call the Northampton mayor. He seems to know what to do.
Lmao sorry so out of it these days – finally getting my ass caught up on comments! They’re cream cheese soft cookies with the crushed Andes mint chocolates – they’re pretty awesome and soft as heck. 🙂 Lol i can send ya some 🙂 Does he? I’m not sure about our Mayor – Lol.. that’s pretty bad..
Actually that sounds divine. And it’s a long weekend. We are all playing catch-up!
I still never watched Dr. Who – now if you asked me about Walking Dead I’m all over it. – just saying.
Those are super cute pics of the kiddos xoxo
Well Cassidy watches both shows religiously! I only hear the zombie show as I am working. It’s loud!
That picture of Des laughing is the best, until I got to the one where he is sticking is tongue out. One of these days I’ll give Dr. Who a try; I do love time travel. I just need more time in the day!
Well Shirley you have read the Time Traveler’s Wife, right?
Probably we have talked about it. I’ve never been able to see the movie, though.
wow, tamara, loved that gorgeous photo of scarlet and des!! oohh, your kids are the cutest little ones ever!
i have never seen a single episode of dr. who, but i am ready to get started.
happy weekend~
xo
Thank you so much! They’re a lot of fun in photos.
I hope you have a gorgeous weekend!
I love that you would meet your dad for tea – that just made me tear up. I’ve also never seen Dr. Who, but I think I’m missing out. Have a wonderful weekend!
I would love that over any celebrity or historical figure..
Hope you have a great one!!
I got a really bad sinus infection too after I had my son. He was four months old and I also had an allergic reaction for the antibiotics I was prescribed. My lips started swelling and then they cracked and started bleeding. My face also started getting scabs and peeling. I looked like a monster. Then I had to take Benadryl which dried my milk up. My son drank formula for two days. Then after that he refused to drink any more formula. Luckily, by taking lots of fenugreek and by just letting him latch on I was able to get my supply back. It’s weird what happens to your body postpartum.
Oh no! You too! It is bad because I’m afraid to get sick again, for fear of antibiotics. Although they said there are tons of other choices, luckily.
I forgot to mention I love the picture of Scarlet and Des above.
Thank you for that! Was fun to dig them out.
I love that picture of Des and Scarlet when Des is a baby!!!
I’m like you – rarely sick but when it happens it is usually bad!!!
Yes! Me too! It usually knocks me down for two weeks every two or three years. Shudder.
Love the Titanic answer. I got obsessed about it when I was in high school. I printed all sorts of documents I can find about it (but I think it’s more of the Titanic movie and Leonardo DC). LOL. I’ve never watched an episode of Dr Who and I love that it’s your theme now. And the tardis dress, soo lovely!
I want that dress!!
I saw the movie in high school.. I’m old!
I’m the only guy I know at this point that has watched the movie Titanic over a dozen times. I got to see it on opening night and because there was a huge blizzard in Reno that night we were the ONLY ones in the theater. Ok, on not calling the Army if aliens landed but you would really tip toe out to see them (with your camera of course)?? *raised eyebrow* 🙂 Just out of curiosity would you like to have an Australian accent? I think they rock, Tamara 🙂
I love Australian accents!!!!
I don’t know what I’d do about aliens. I’d probably send Des out to investigate. Kidding! I’d send one of the weird cats.
Now, that is funny! 🙂
Well that is the closest thing to an alien in this house!
I’d love to go see a polo match if I was in jolly England! that would be so cool…. and extra bonus if a certain Ginger Prince was playing! My girl friend and I used to do an English accent sometimes when we went out on the town. So fricking funny. Especially after a few drinks in ya and it starts to slip from a very Posh thing, to more like the spy who shagged me. Oh, behave!
Ok.. I might need a video of that!
If you have ever seen the movie What’s Your Number (yes, it’s Chris Evans – LOL), just watch the part where the female actress Anna Farris bungles her English accent. it’s fairly accurate re-enactment.
Ha!! Maybe I will..
don’t say I never gave ya nothing. 😉
http://youtu.be/DST3g_Fyn94
I would never say such a thing! I already watched it twice. And pictured him naked. No, not that guy. The other one.
You need that Tardis dress.
I’ll be your companion. 🙂
We would be a pretty great team!
OMG! I love the moose shirt pic! And yes…we all need to take it easy…for real. Just don’t go away ok?
Never!
I am so happy that I dug out that moose shirt picture. It was quite a phone photo moment.
This was so much fun to read! I love that you would photograph the Titanic. I have always had a fascination with it and my son has a full blown obsession with it! That moose shirt picture is priceless! Their faces…. I have no words!
I know! It was just a phone photo right after he was born. I am so glad I dug it out.
Having a British accent would rock! And I find the Titanic totally fascinating, too!-Ashley
There seem to be a lot of us! I had no idea so many people were into the Titanic. Make sense, though.
Great post. Des and Scarlet are so sweet !!!
Thank you! They certainly have their moments.
Oh I love British accents. You know I have not seen a Dr. Who episode yet? At some point I need to just watch one as I have heard a lot of people like it (like you). I just have to find the time to watch it. Thinking of you as you are enjoying your sister’s wedding celebration! Cannot wait to see photos!
The wedding is actually next weekend! Six days. I can’t wait. Watching a Dr. who episode can be very confusing, I have to warn you.
I have never seen Doctor Who. Maybe I should start watching.
However, I’ve always been obsessed with the Titanic. Even before the movie came out. I had so many books about it. And when the movie came out, so many more books came out so I got those too. Tom and I renewed our vows on the grand staircase in the Titanic museum 😉
Wow! I think you just won the Titanic obsession. Although I don’t want to call it an obsession as if that’s unhealthy. I think it’s cool that you did that.
I’ve never seen Dr. Who. But then again, I’ve never seen most shows. The Titantic has always been fascinating to me. Actually most history is. I wonder how things would change in history if events were to change. That would be an interesting book!
I know! It’s probably playing with fire to change history.
I had forgotten about that amazing photo of the kids, when Des was first born!
Matching moose shirts!
Yes they were from Lani! What a great baby gift.
I love your response to aliens landing in your backyard lol. And Weeping Angels…just those two words together makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, I have to check that out. I like being scared!!
They are very scary! I won’t say a lot about them, but they don’t always do what you think they are going to do to you.
I am wholly unfamiliar with Dr.Who. That picture of Des and Scarlet is priceless. One of my favorite pics by you. The wonder and the innocence is something that you want to bottle up forever.
Thank you! If you mean the doctor who photo, yay! If you mean the moose one, it was a phone photo!
I admit, I have been taking it easy on the vlogging front lately. I have been traveling, busy doing custom blog design work, and attending blog conferences. It was a just summer, and the fall isn’t going to slow down, then next up the holidays. Nothing wrong at all with taking it easy. We all need a little time to step back. Plus, burning the midnight oil catches up with us, on a mental, physical, and emotional level. I know it sure has for me!
Definitely for me too. There is always a step back in summer and for the holidays, but this one seems to be generally more than usual all around. I’m glad we are all still committed, though.
Bollocks. I’m 103rd it seems.
1. That dress, on the right girl (or quite possibly the wrong one) could make me a Dr. Who fan.
2. If I could meet anyone in London, it would be Pippa. I don’t even know if she’s in London, but in this case, yes. A thousand times yes.
3. I love how Des sits there in that last photo of him with his tongue kind of sticking out. Why don’t we grownups still do it? I’m going to see if I can more often.
You snooze, you lose on being number 100!
I think I have seen the wrong kind of girl in that dress, and you’re right, it’s still magical.
It has to be timed just right, the 100. Sometimes the wrong girl is just the right girl, no matter what her dress. A Tardis dress, though, seems to be worth at least three points.
Sweet. I’m getting that dress for Christmas. I’m going to wear it to my next blog conference.
I wonder if you’d be the right girl. Or the wrong one.
I think the answer is obvious!
I am not sure why, but we never really got into Dr. Who. We tried once and I don’t even remember why we stopped – hmmm, maybe we should try again. Because, I mean, time travel, come on – that totally rocks! And I love your answers to the time travel ones. The pic of Scarlett and Des being mesmerized by… is just adorable 🙂
It is a very weird show to get into, because it’s been around for 50 years with so many different doctors. It’s still confusing to me and I have caught up for years.
I’m really embarrassed that I’ve never seen a single episode. Is it something I’m going to get addicted to? I’m always down for adding shows to my must watch list. I love that you choose your dad. Made my heart smile, his too I’m sure. Des in a bow tie is a game changer!!!!! he’s way way way way way too cute. I concur- britsh accents are sexy.
Do you ever watch the show New Girl? They had an actor with a British accent on last night, and I was swooning.
It’s a weird show to get addicted to, but it happened for me.
So my BIL and SIL are both into the Doctor Who series, but the Husband and I never have been. Your posts make me seriously consider finding them on Prime or Netflix streaming! But we can barely keep up with the three live shows we watch, so catching up on so many seasons just seems daunting. That illness you mentioned in #9 sounds like it was awful. I can’t imagine having so many stressors all at once.
Yes that illness was ridiculous. Just with the death and the big project, and the drama from the hospital, and I was postpartum! And I had a cold! And I was allergic to penicillin! I could go on.
It’s weird to know when to start with the show, because it’s been around for 50 years, but do people usually start it from the first one? I didn’t!
