Who says you can’t have fun in Disney World as an adult? Disney Theme Parks are created to be catered not only to children, but to their parents as well. Even if you don’t have children, there are many things you can do (besides coasters) to have fun at Disney. Here are a couple options.
Do the Kid Stuff Anyway
Remember that this trip is also about you, and not just your kids. Make sure that you have fun too, and go on the rides with your children. Just seeing your children’s eyes light up in excitement will bring back the kid in you.
Many parents come to Disney thinking that one parent will be babysitting the smaller children, while the other is going on fun rides with the older children. Disney finds this unacceptable.
Rider Switch allows the first adult to ride with the children, and then when the ride is over, the other parent can hop to the front of the line. This is so they don’t have to wait in line. Plus, your kiddos can ride twice in a matter of minutes.
Not only will your kids enjoy Kilimanjaro Safaris, but you will as well. It’s like a real safari straight out of Africa, with animals you might not see at the zoo. Even as an adult, you might see an animal for the first time.
Splash Mountain (after dark)
Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom is a favorite ride. Not only does it tell the story of Brer Rabbit that adults saw as a kid, but it also has a fantastic view of the castle at night, all lit up. The drop at the end will have your heart in your throat. You won’t stay dry on this one.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Has Shows!
I highly suggest going to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you love Indiana Jones, you will love the re-enactment that will leave you impressed with archeology. The explosions are real, heating up the entire theatre. The Muppet Show is funny and has neat props as well. My family enjoyed Disney Studios, especially the Path of the Jedi. My kids chickened out about Darth Vader.
At night, inside Disney Studios, Mickey puts on one heck of a performance called Fantasmic. Parents and adults will appreciate and marvel at the display of lights, fireworks, geysers, and water projections. This is a show you don’t want to miss.
(Without Small Children)
Disney Serves Alcohol
Disney now serves alcohol in all its theme parks. Most of Disney’s sit down dining offers cocktails and many beer options. Plus, don’t forget the mini poolside bars by your hotel resort.
Shopping at Disney Springs
Disney Springs is more centered for adults, with its several small shops, delicious restaurants, and live entertainment.
Disney Boardwalk at Night
This is one of the best places to watch Disney’s fireworks at night. The nightlife atmosphere is relaxing and exciting on a quarter mile boardwalk.
This coaster is among the favorites at Animal Kingdom. With its sharp turns, going backwards at times, and quick speed, adults and children alike will really enjoy this ride.
Space Mountain is no little kid coaster. It’s a coaster that has zipping spins and tight turns in the dark.
Extra Magic Hours
At select Disney parks, in the morning or after the park closes, Disney has Extra Magic Hours for adults to enjoy Disney after the children have all been tuckered into bed. You will enjoy short lines and not experience tired children.
There’s no way, even as an adult, you can’t have fun at Disney World. For young or old, there is magic and fun at every corner. These were just a couple suggestions on attractions adults would enjoy. Would you agree? What else do you enjoy doing as an adult at Disney World?
