I think it’s safe to say we have Disney on the brain lately, and definitely Disney Springs!
Fun Things to Do in Disney Springs
If you need to scratch your Disney itch, but you don’t want to visit the theme parks, Disney Springs is great alternative! The last few years, Downtown Disney has been upgraded to a one-stop destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It now goes by “Disney Springs” and there is no charge to enter! There’s a great blend of traditional retail stores and also a nice assortment of Disney merchandise shops. Many of the restaurants and snack stands accept the Disney Dining Plan, so if you are between park days, you don’t have to worry about paying out of pocket for meals and snacks! Parking is free if you’re driving or you can take a shuttle from your resort if you’re staying on property. There’s always fun to have whether you are staying for just an hour or the day! Check out our list of fun things to do in Disney Springs!
Disney’s Candy Cauldron
The Candy Cauldron is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth! From character candy apples to chocolate covered pretzels, and from rainbow lollipops to huge chocolate covered strawberries, this spot has something for everyone. The fun part is that you can watch many of the delicious treats being made right in front of you! The storefront window looks right into the exhibition style kitchen where you can see Cast Members hand dipping and decorating apples, strawberries, Rice Krispies treats, and more!
This brand new attraction opened in August 2019 and it’s sure to impress NBA fans. You’ll get to experience what it’s like to be an NBA player, from draft day to playing in front of a cheering crowd in this state-of-the-art immersive experience! Guests of all ages are able to practice their skills, learn about the history of teams, play interactive basketball games, and test their knowledge in a trivia game, plus so much more. There is also a store where you can pick up all of your favorite fan gear. Tickets are on sale now and prices start at $29. You can purchase online at disneyworld.com or by calling (407) 939-5277.
Coca-Cola Rooftop Beverage Bar
Go on a tasting adventure as you try drinks from around the world when you purchase a tray of Tastes Around the World. You’ll get drinks from countries like Italy and India. Some are tasty; others not so much, but it’s always fun to watch the reactions on the faces of your tasting buddies! Beverly, a drink from Italy, always gives a good laugh! There is also a huge selection of Coca-Cola merchandise to purchase, a meet-and-greet with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear, and interactive screens to play on while you wait. The store has three levels and there’s so much to look at, but my favorite thing is taking a drink up to the rooftop and taking in the view!
Take a “flight” on this huge, tethered, helium-filled balloon! You’ll ascend 400 feet into the air and take in amazing 360-degree views of Disney Springs and beyond. On clear days, you can see up to 10 miles away! The breeze is especially welcome on hot days. The flight is about 10 minutes long and tickets can be purchased at the attraction location with prices starting at $15 each. The Aerophile is hand-painted and has become an iconic part of the Disney Springs area.
The Charming Venetian Carousel has beautiful hand-painted murals of Disney Springs. Choose a horse and get read for a leisurely spin. I think it’s especially fun to ride at night when the carousel is all lit up! Tickets are $3 per person.
The Marketplace Train Express takes children on a fun ride around the Marketplace choo-choo track that is perfect for toddlers. Rides are $3 each.
Kids love these small attractions, and they make for a fun distraction when one parent wants to shop!
Located on Lake Buena Vista, the Marketplace Stage hosts live musical performances and special events daily. You can enjoy live bands, youth dance groups, and choirs and comics. At night, get ready for a DJ Dance Party with all of the latest hits. The live entertainment really gives a fun and inviting feel to the whole place.
Vintage Amphicar Tour
Take a tour around Lake Buena Vista in a one-of-a-kind amphibious car. That means these are both boat and car! Board at The BOATHOUSE for a 25-minute cruise in a vintage 1960s Amphicar. I had no idea these cars existed prior to seeing them at Disney Springs! It really is quite a shock to see a slick red convertible cruising through the lake. Rides are $125 per car, so it’s not cheap, but each car holds 3-4 people. So cost is more manageable if you split it per person. If budgets allow, this is a must do!
With over 100 shopping options in Disney Springs, you’re bound to find something to take back home. Disney has created a really wonderful outdoor mall shopping experience. You can find everything from accessories and apparel, to art and collectibles, and to health and beauty products, toys and souvenirs, and even food and snacks. There’s even a luggage store, just in case you shopped too much and need something to bring it all home in! This is just a small sample of stores in Disney Springs:

Dining at Disney Springs can be nice sit down meal or snacks on the go while you take in the scenery. You can find American, Cuban, Mexican, Irish, Italian, Asian and Spanish offerings at over 60 dining spots. My kids always enjoy T-REX, which is like a dinosaur version of the Rainforest Cafe. After dinner, we enjoy grabbing a smoothie from Joffrey’s Handcrafted Smoothies and walking along the lake. Here are just some of the eateries in Disney Springs:
- House of Blues – The Smokehouse
