In truth, it’s probably better in the fall, but I’d take it year-round if I could. The key to good snack/trail mix in this house is the special touches. When I was 7 months pregnant with Scarlet, we went to the bed & breakfast in Maine at which we had met, and celebrated our one year anniversary. I remember staying up late with our Innkeeper friend, and watching her make delicious trail mix blends for her kids, for her grandkids, for the Inn guests, and for us. She had so many special touches, and a unique way of making the snack mixes extra special. I use that method now to make fall snack mix for my family.
I bought an extra special ingredient at Shop-Rite last week and my kids were so happy! Remember Oreo O’s from your childhood? I do too! And my dreams came true to see it in the cereal aisle alongside Honey Maid S’mores. YUM.
It’s just like I remember, but better!! I’m talking chocolatey, crunchy O’s with that OREO® cookie taste you know and love. There’s a rich creme coating to give you a bowlful of cookie milk that tastes GREAT! It’s really good without milk too, as you’ll see with my recipe. This is the perfect tasty fall snack mix and it will make a great back to school snack!
