They really are! I remember making something like this with my kindergarten best friend, Becky. We used to try all sorts of satisfying snacks, using bread, cinnamon, sugar, butter, cream cheese, etc. We never really perfected it, although my mom has a perfect cinnamon toast recipe of using a mixture of cinnamon and sugar she kept in a little tin (so it could percolate together over time). And then sprinkling that right on the still melting butter. It was all about timing, I tell ya! My pregnant self is really craving this RIGHT NOW and I’m about to go into the kitchen and make some cinnamon toast! Or, maybe I want Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese Roll Ups NOW!
Cinnamon Sugar Cream Cheese Roll Ups:
What You Need:
8-10 pieces of bread (any kind works)
4 oz cream cheese (softened)
3 Tbsp powered sugar
½ cup butter (melted)
½ cup sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
What You Do:
1 – Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
2 – Cut off crust around each slice of bread; then, with a rolling pin, roll each piece of bread so that it’s flat. Set aside.
3 – In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar, and then mix well.
4 – Spread the mixture on each piece of bread and roll up tightly.
5 – In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, and mix well.
6 – Brush butter on each roll-up, and make sure to get on all the sides. (you could also dip them)
7 – Place in the bowl of cinnamon sugar, and roll to coat. Make sure to get a good coating going all the way around the roll-up.
8 – And then, place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
9 – Place roll-ups in oven for 20-25 minutes.
10 – Take out and Enjoy!! You can drizzle chocolate over them, as well as fresh fruit, whipped cream, etc. Or just eat them as is!!
