I am just impressed with it. This is sort of a last minute pitch hitter, as the sponsored post I had scheduled for today was postponed until tomorrow, so I thought – Christmas Tree Rice Krispie Treats. Isn’t that what you would have thought? Yes. So my family has been in NYC for three days now. When I called the school to call both kids in absent, the secretary and I agreed that having time alone at home is a rare gem. While I agreed, this is only my third having this happen since I had kids, and I prefer it when there’s more light and warmth. Although, as she said, this is a great opportunity to read a book by the fire with a cup of tea/coffee. And to write!
Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treats Recipe:
What You Need:
3-4 tbsp butter
6 cups mini marshmallows
Kelly green gel food coloring
5 cups rice cereal
Colorful nonpareils sprinkles
2-3 oz. yellow rolling fondant
Yields: Approx. one dozen rice cereal trees
What You Do:
1 – First, line a baking sheet with wax paper, and then set aside.
2 – In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then add marshmallows.
3 – Then, stir marshmallows constantly with a wooden spoon until completely melted.
4 – Once marshmallow mixture is completely melted, remove from heat – and then add 2 small drops of Kelly green gel food coloring. Mix until completely tinted.
5 – Add cereal treats to the saucepan and fold until rice cereal is well-incorporated.
6 – Mold rice cereal treats into 3D trees. To do this, form a 3 inch sphere with the green rice cereal treats then start molding it into a cone. To give it a flat base so that it stands on its own, press it down on the lined baking sheet.
7 – Sprinkle each tree with colorful nonpareils while it’s still sticky.
8 – Then, create star shapes out of the yellow fondant. To create one star, roll out a sphere a little less than half an inch in diameter.
9 – Press down slightly in the center and as it flattens, pinch out 5 corners to give it the shape of a star.
10 – Press one star at the top of each rice cereal treat. Lastly, allow to set. Then, enjoy!
And, that’s that! Can you believe it’s only nine days until Christmas, by the way? I was totally one of those people that memes scream about – doing holiday things right after Halloween. And now here we are and it’s flying. Well. At least we have this Rice Krispie Treats recipe.
