One of the most classic recipes with an upgrade – it’s chocolate dipped. I realize it’s the day before Valentine’s Day so while I do think there’s plenty of time to get these bad boys made by tomorrow, I also think that hearts are year-round. What you can’t do by tomorrow is to use my 70 calorie white chocolate style substitute from Gatsby Chocolate. Seriously awesome place. Using store-bought chocolate will be just perfect too. Chocolate Dipped Rice Krispie Treat Recipe:
What You Need:
3 Tbsp butter
1 package mini marshmallows (10 oz bag)
6 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal
8 ounces white candy melts or almond bark, or this sub
Red food coloring
Red, pink and/or white sprinkles
What You Do:
1 – In a large pan, melt butter, and then once butter is melted, slowly add mini marshmallows.
2 – Stir until the mini marshmallows are fully melted.
3 – Then, add in a couple of drops of red food coloring until you reach your desired color.
4 – Add in your Rice Krispies cereal, and then stir until all of the cereal is coated with melted marshmallows.
5 – Evenly press Rice Krispies into a 9×13 pan coated with non stick spray.
6 – Use a heart cookie cutter coated with cooking spray to cut into heart shapes.
7 – Then, allow it all to cool completely.
8 – Melt white chocolate or candy almond bark according to package directions.
9 – Dip each heart halfway into melted candy.
10 – Sprinkle tops of the candy coated portion with red or pink sprinkles, and then place on wax paper to cool and set.
