‘Cause I Want a Golden Ticket.

I wish I had a golden ticket to #SoFabUOTR – SoFabU On The Road!

It all started with ninja turtles, as many great things do.

It was last July, and I was checking my email on the back roads of Truro, Cape Cod, while Cassidy was at the town center getting our beach pass. The beach pass has a picture of a shark on it, and it’s a way cool status symbol to have on your car, I think? I just guessed that part. Anyway, I was checking my email on my phone while nearly at the beach. Not a cool thing to do, but I like to casually peruse the whole email situation when I’m away. I’m glad I did because that was the day I was accepted into my first Shoppertunity. There was talk of dip and recipes and what I can do with vegetables and dip.

I can do a lot with vegetables and dip! Can you?

Scarlet had a play date when we got back to dry land, and away from sharks, and that’s when I made my ninja turtle. It was a hit. I’m not going to say that her friend ate ten pieces of broccoli, that day alone. I will say that a little seed was planted into her brain, though. A big seed was planted into my brain. That started my blogging relationship with SoFab. Shopping and learning and writing and photographing, and double-checking all of those things, and then going back out to shop and learn and write and photograph. It happens to the best of us. It is one of the best things to happen for me. Thank you, SoFab.

I like you a lot. You could say I dig you.

Thanks for taking a chance on me, so I could go and take a chance on a lot of things I might not otherwise have strived to do. Garden work, birthday blondies, lemon chicken noodle soup, and a million more wonderful opportunities. Shoppertunities.

I have been to one blog conference, almost two years ago, and it was wonderful. Lately I have felt ready for the next level and to learn a great deal of things in one place. Learning is weird like that, right? There are quiet times, and then loud jumps into the next level of learning. I rather like how it works. It’s like how I talk about art and inspiration. It can leave you, but it always comes back. Sometimes in surprising ways. I want to go to #SoFabUOTR because I’m ready for my next level of learning. I’m ready to connect and meet. I won’t even need a plane ticket. Just three hours in a car and I’m yours.

Two of the conferences will be held in two of my favorite cities – Chicago and Brooklyn. I think I’m a Brooklyn girl now, after spending a romantic weekend there two weeks ago, and seeing a wedding against the Statue of Liberty. I have to go back!

Here’s the fantastic lineup for SoFabU on the Road events:
Brooklyn – May 14th
Chicago – July 9th
Dallas – September 17th
LA – Oct 1st

What is #SoFabUOTR? SoFabU on the Road is a unique conference series that allows social influencers to take advantage of face to face educational opportunities to help grow their businesses. SoFabUOTR is an extension of Social Fabric University (SoFabU), which is where I’ve learned so much through their online education opportunities. To help us grow even more, and implement the things we learn about growing our businesses, they provide members with a conference experience that is accessible, meaningful, and with a sole focus on education. And that is why I most want to go – to grow.

And for it to be the kind of growth that sticks around.. forever. Like candy corn.

It may not be what you think it will be. This week’s ever-timely Finish the Sentence Friday topic is “I Wish I Had..” And there’s still time to write yours. Come link up with your spin: HERE.

    1. Queens represent!
If I don’t win, I still think I’ll go and make a weekend out of it with Cassidy. So if I do meet you, I’ll cry of happiness.

  4. Oh how I wish I was in Brooklyn so I could attend and I’m sure you can totally nail that golden ticket. Wish it and it’s yours! At this point I’m looking at the one in Dallas and hoping things work out so I could attend that one.

    1. I know.. you are a NYC girl. Come out! Win a ticket!
The Dallas one caught my eye too, actually. It’s a place I’ve never been and I love big adventures. Plus, everything’s bigger in Texas.

    1. That blue dress is now a legend in my closet, because I’ve never had anything like it and I felt like a princess for a whole day!
      Thanks, my friend.

  6. I’ve been to two blog conference. One was completely overwhelming and intimidating and all I learned was that I suck a blogging. But I did meet some friends, and that was fun. The second one cheaper, shorter, and I learned so much.! It was great conference and I left there feeling like I was going to kick the blogging world’s ass. As you know, that never happened. Ha. Good luck, I hope you win!

    1. haha! I’d probably have that happen at BlogHer, should I ever go. Which I haven’t. I did BlogU which was lovely.
I never kicked ass either. It’s ok. I think as long as we do it in our small ways.. it all grows.

    1. I agree! Some blog conferences.. no names mentioned.. are too overwhelming for me and my slight anxiety disorder! Although I do ok socially, I like to be able to chill and escape when needed.
      Thanks about the ninja turtle!

  7. Good luck! That Ninja Turtle with the broccoli is HONESTLY one of the cutest, most clever things I’ve seen. You’re a natural. Just keep doing what your doing and the skies the limit. (wish I could come up with a Ninja Turtle analogy. :))

    1. Thank you so much! I have no idea where I came up with it, and I was so new to pitching campaigns, that I honestly don’t think I even pitched the concept. I just did it, and hoped for the best.
I’m sure there are great Ninja Turtle analogies out there.. but I wouldn’t know them!

    1. That dress is my happy place. I’ve never worn a thing like it. I was a princess for a whole night!
I’m laughing at your raw broccoli thing. I’m hoping you have better luck with steamed?

        1. hah! Do you like it enough to save it for nights he’s not around? Or is it just.. broccoli? I can see that results might vary if chocolate were the culprit.

  8. Loved the way you took upon this prompt, Tamara.

I too love carrots and broccoli with the dip…does not make me feel guilty to indulge 😉
Wishing you win a trip to Chicago/Brooklyn 🙂 Good luck!

    1. If veggies and dip are wrong, I never want to be right!
Thanks about the trip! Even if I don’t win, I’m tempted to do one or the other.. or both.

  9. I remember that dip! I hope you win – I SO want to visit Brooklyn one day and wish I could get there for the conference. So Fab OTR is SO good! I went to the one in LA last year and am going again this year. 🙂

    1. You have a good memory! I miss that one. It was for a playdate for a friend who moved away to Germany. I hope the Ninja Turtle didn’t scare her away. Kidding!
I want to go to the LA one! I should apply to win for that one!

  10. Good luck! You deserve it. I hope to go to a conference one day! I’d like to learn so much more. And I still love your broccoli turtle. The olives scare me, but my son and husband would eat them.

  11. Fingers and toes crossed that you win! I’ve been feeling the urge to go to another conference too, but I’m not sure what is the best fit for me. And of course, meeting friends is a major motivator. That photo always makes me smile!

    1. Yes, meeting friends was a favorite part of BlogU! Although the curriculum there was so good, that I wish I had paid a bit more attention to it. Some of it was game-changing!

  12. I want a golden ticket too! Wah, but these are too far away from me. I hope they come someplace close to me soon. Good luck to you:)

  13. Keeping everything crossed for you and hope you win–what a fantastic opportunity… AND <3 that it takes place in Brooklyn, just a hop, skip, and jump away! One of these days I really will get out of my head and go to one of these conferences. There is so much learning to be done!

    Xoxo

  14. I hope you win. I’ve never been to a blogging conference, but I would love to go to one some day. I know there is so much that I need/want to learn when it comes to blogging.

    1. Thank you! I always thought there was no point, because you can just Google anything these days, but then I went to a conference and something about the classroom setting really did it for me. I learned so much!

  15. I hope you win a ticket!
This is my first year since 2013 that I’m NOT planning on going to a blogging conference. I’m kind of ready for a break, though this blog conference does sound like fun.
It’s fun to watch your blog grow in different ways over the last year and to see your creativity bloom in a different way as a result of these shoppertunities 🙂

    1. Breaks are good! I’ve only been to the one conference so I can’t wait to do another.
It’s fun to watch you grow in different ways too! This gig is so amazing sometimes.

  16. Ooh thanks for letting me know about the LA conference! I’m going to my first one (BlogHer) because it’s in LA and I might check this one out too! Can you tell I’d rather not travel for conferences? lol

    1. haha, yes! I get it, though. BlogHer is a dream but it’s more than the ticket. For me, it’s the cross country flight, hotel, arrangements for childcare for kids if Cassidy came with or had to work..
      A lot!
      One day, though…

  17. Great Pictures and I hope that you win! I think I am just about ready to attend a blog conference for the first time this year…I have my eye on a few to choose from.

  18. Ah, I want to do the sofab in Brooklyn but I have a race in the morning. I can still do it–of course–the race is early but I worry about burn out, been trying to keep it light this year…

  19. I hope you win! (or already won)! Having just gone to my first blogging conference, I can say that it was an amazing experience. I learned so much and can’t wait to get started on some new things. Hopefully there will be more conferences in my future!
