Usually I roll them out at about the same time the stores around here starting carrying the giant pumpkins. That means business here in New England. Pumpkin season? Yes. Apple season? Even more yes. Our local orchard started apple picking on Sundays in September. I saw them today and they’re glorious right now – shining from the trees against the blue sky. No matter how hot it is, I think it’s always a good time for apples. And cupcakes. And caramel. You know what that means, right? It means Caramel Apple Spice Cupcakes! Ahhh. These are SO good, and so easy to make. I have a secret weapon.
It’s the NEW PillsburyTM Filled Pastry Bag – available in three delicious flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate Fudge and Cream Cheese. I love that Pastry Bags make frosting our favorite treats easy and fun, as well as fun for the whole family. Finally, my kids can help frost cupcakes and it looks like a professional baker did it! We’ve had a lot of fun with fall baking.
Our favorite Pillsbury Creamy Supreme frosting is now available in a pre-filled pastry bag, and the built-in star tip easily decorates in three fun designs: Stars, Rosettes, and Waves. It’s in my recipe too, but it’s so easy to use! You push the frosting toward the star tip and twist the top of the pastry bag. If you haven’t already removed the plastic over the star tip, tear at the perforation. Then, squeeze from the top of the pastry bag to frost your baked foods. You’ll get gorgeous results!
My favorite part of this recipe is its simplicity, and how the frosting steals the show. I love to decorate it with cinnamon, caramel sauce, and apple slices, but to my kids there’s only one clear winner here. And that’s the Pastry Bags.

Here’s my recipe! This came together with some family brainstorming as we all thought about the cupcakes we most wanted to eat, and how we could make them gorgeously and easily. Pastry Bags saved the day, and we couldn’t have done this without them! I’d love to hear about your uses for Pastry Bags in the comments. Fall is for baking!

I’ve never seen these pastry bags, but I think they are brilliants. Getting the frosting into those bags isn’t fun:) Super convenient for folks who make cupcakes.. especially those Moms who find out they are supposed to bring a batch to school tomorrow at 10pm!
It’s hard, so I agree – brilliant! And easy!
I seriously need to get my hands on the pastry bags, as I am terrible icing cupcakes in all honesty. So these would totally up my game I think. Plus now I need an excuse to try your cupcakes, too!! 🙂
hah, me too! If mine look perfect on my blog, probably Cassidy did them OR I used these! Magic.
What a fund and cool recipe. I am an apple lover so this are a must in my home. I will bake them soon. Thanks for the inspiration and for participating in this shop ~ client
