Sometimes we’d go our separate ways – into the smoky air, and roaming the streets of Mooney Mountain. Sometimes we’d go altogether, or as two and two, and my poor little sister with parents or grandparents. Sometimes we’d have fevers or colds and thick parkas over our costumes, and sometimes it would be warm enough to wear a Snow White dress with no jacket.
As you can probably tell, we have Halloween festivities on the brain. We’ll be doing downtown trick-or-treating for a couple of hours, then a parade, and then neighborhood trick-or-treating. Plus the annual party at the school! I’m actually tired just thinking about it, but also excited because I have the perfect snack/dessert to make or bring or enjoy through all of this fun.
Candy Corn Dessert Cups:
What You Need:
1 1/3 cups boiling water
Small shot glass cups
8 oz tub of Cool Whip
1 Lemon Jell-O Gelatin (3 oz size)
1 Orange Jell-O Gelatin (3 oz size)
What You Do:
1 – First, place lemon Jell-O in a bowl and whisk in 2/3 cup boiling water
2 – Stir until dissolved and allow to cool
3 – Once cooled, fill each cup about 1/3 full of yellow and allow to chill and set in the refrigerator
4 – Place orange Jell-O in a bowl and add 2/3 cup boiling water – stir until dissolved and allow to cool
5 – Add orange gelatin on top of the yellow once set and place in refrigerator
6 – Once the orange gelation has fully set top each portion with whipped topping and garnish with a piece of candy corn
7 – Lastly, refrigerate until ready to serve
And that, is that! In our house we’re a bit divided about candy corn, not unlike how we are about Easter PEEPS. My mom is the great equalizer because she loves all of this stuff, and probably loves JELL-O too! Where do you stand on candy corn, PEEPS, and JELL-O? Comment it!
I make some fun fall-themed Magic Bars! Check them out here, along with some costumes!
