I always feel so lucky when it’s summer, because the local produce is off the hook. I’m talking BALES of kale (like bales of hay), seasonal berries, and the hopeful start of fall harvests. I think the August crops are the most delicious, and so perfect for mixing with FAGE Total yogurts. I love that Walmart has all the produce I need to enjoy the wonder of August. Last week, I picked up my favorite vegetables, as well as blueberries to remind me of the wild ones in Maine!
I am an enthusiastic snacker. It’s in my nature and it’s how I operate best. During my hungriest days – a major growth spurt in high school – I had to snack every couple of hours. During my busy days now, it’s honestly about the same. Especially with work and travel, we have to rely on GOOD snacks! Now you’re probably wondering about me giving you snack tips, right?
Right. I’m a professional snacker! I have credentials! Not really, but what I am is a busy and fairly fit working mother of two, who favors better-for-you snacking. When I worked in an office job, many moons ago, the vending machine options were deplorable. I didn’t yet care because I was younger and fairly convinced of my own invincibility, but something about turning 30 or turning into a parent changed that for me. It’s all about various flavors and better options during my snack breaks.
Here is my favorite snack: FAGE Total Greek yogurt with fresh, August blueberries. This reminds me of mornings at the Farmer’s Market, and the wonderful snacks you can create with produce and the right accompaniments.
FAGE Total 2% Plain Greek yogurt is easily found in the dairy section of Walmart. It’s all-natural, made only with milk and live active yogurt cultures, and it’s protein rich too! FAGE Total can be used as a substitute for sour cream/mayo. In fact, we make deviled eggs with it. YUM. Scarlet’s favorite way to eat FAGE Total is with honey. Des’ favorite way is with blueberries. My favorite way is with berries and honey! I love raspberries, but the blueberries were calling to me this week. My recipe is SO EASY. FAGE Total is the star.
- 1 cup FAGE Total 2% Plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
- 1-2 tsp honey
- Mix together and enjoy!
The taste is SO creamy. And when you mix it with a bit of honey and the tart/sweet blueberries of late summer, I would actually challenge myself to find a more perfect snack to eat. You can also use FAGE Total 0% Plain Greek yogurt.
