And that’s my older sister, Lindsay. I don’t always dwell on this, but Cheerios were a comfort to me as a child when my father had passed away, and I’m sure meals were hard for my mom to make. My sister and I would always have Cheerios together, whether at home, at our grandparents’ house, or during our trips to Florida or New Hampshire to visit my other grandparents. Now that I have my own kids, I notice how much more I appreciate their convenience and taste. Personally I like to mix my own with a little cream in the milk, but I haven’t told my kids that secret yet. I do tell that to my sister. You know what else is special?
I’m excited about these! From a first finger food to using our own bowl and spoon, there were countless childhood breakfasts with my four siblings, sitting around a long oval table and eating Cheerios with milk. For me it was a comfort food in high school when I could barely wake up to meet a dark morning and a school bus. Then my mom would have breakfast waiting for me – even when I was 17-years-old, and with one foot outside the door. In college, Cheerios were a comfort to me when my dorm room was empty, my notebooks were filled, and everything seemed too big to wrap my head around. I would go to the dining room and have a big bowl of my all-time favorite, while reading a comic book. And now we have a NEW flavor to love!
