BIG Life Changes, and What’s Next

Thank you GEICO for sponsoring this post.

Going through life's major milestones? I find that they tend to come, one after the other. That's why GEICO is a resource beyond insurance. #ExpectMoreFromGEICO #ad

You know that feeling when you’re on the precipice of change, but you know you’re not going to fall off?

Instead, you might waver or stumble, but ultimately that self-built parachute is always with you, and that self-built trampoline is waiting on the bottom. You’ve had help, you have help, and you’ll always need help, but you know what? You did this yourself. You built your life up until this point. And, you are continuing to build your life in your own grand design.

life changes

Life is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and major milestones – no two ways about it!

For part of last spring, we started seriously looking at houses. We LOVE our house with all of its charm and quirks, and isolated woodsy goodness, but we were starting to outgrow it. That’s probably about the time we started thinking about splitting the kids into two rooms, and then wanting an extra bedroom for guests and/or another baby. And then we’d need yet another bedroom for guests if the baby happened! After going to open houses for a few months, we never found anything better. So we started the bidding process to renovate what we have & love. And essentially turn it into a whole new space!

The land we have is unmatched. And the land we have is home! The process hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.

Phase 1 is just about complete, which was a whole new master bedroom, a whole new master bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Oh, and we also refinished all of our floors! That might have been the hardest, and most displacing part of it all. Once Phase 1 passes final inspection, we will start Phase 2. This one is a two-car garage and two new bedrooms over it! Whoa. I can’t fathom what that will be like. I don’t think I’m indirect at all when I say we want to expand our family. The hows and whats and whens haven’t solidified yet. I think with all this chaos, I had to put that journey on hold. I got scared of bringing or adopting a baby into that craziness. And I worried my children would be too much older than a new baby.

It’s not worth the worry, though. What will be will be, and we feel like we’re in good hands for the next milestone.

GEICO has been a name in my household for decades now, and that’s because GEICO is a resource beyond insurance. I think I’ve always known that, but have learned it a lot more recently with the upheaval of our lives. There are so many savings with GEICO – like time and money – and they’re perfect for so many facets and milestones of life. I’m talking auto insurance, homeowners insurance, renters insurance, and business insurance.. They cover.. LIFE.

With all of the planning for new homes, renovations, babies, etc., I found that GEICO had these three incredible resources:

1 – 5 Spooky House Noises You Should Never Ignore And we’re not talking about ghosts and ghouls, but this article DOES cover what clanking in your pipes, whistling windows, and humming appliances could mean to you and your home!

2 – House-Cleaning Hacks: Get Your Home Guest-Ready in 15 Minutes – These tips cover all the important parts of the house, and it’s a thorough list for if you’re having guests over and need a quick clean that will look like it took longer!

3 – 7 Most Beautiful College Towns in America – The pictures are EXQUISITE! We live in a beautiful college town (small city) and although we didn’t make the list, I was still stunned by all the beauty of the 7 most beautiful college towns!

See what I mean about GEICO being way beyond insurance? They cover all parts of life. I’m proud to be partnered with GEICO today, the way I have felt like they’ve been a part of my life through the major milestones of the last several years.

  1. Sounds like you are well covered and I am a true Geico fan having used them for our own insurance needs over the years now. So, I couldn’t agree more about Geico with you if I tried! 🙂

  2. If you were selling your house I would have to seriously consider moving so I could buy it!! What a wonderful adventure expanding and adding on to the home you love! It will be so worth it in the end!

  3. I feel like I’m living one big milestone right now! So glad you decided to stay in your home – your property is so magical. And an new baby – do I get a vote? Then I say YES!

  4. I’m a GEICO girl too, so I love this. Excited to see how phase 2 of your remodel goes! I just finished redoing three bathrooms and honey, the struggle was real but worth it. Your home is beautiful!

  5. My gosh… I seriously thought you were PREGNANT!! AH! But I absolutely understand your worries, your thoughts on it all. And why move from the PERFECT location and the most incredible spot of land, when you can build more of your dream home right THERE. This is amazing Tamara. I am thrilled for you and your family!

(I can only imagine how hard the process could be, though. Keep your eyes on the prize, girl!)

  6. Tamara, just do it! It’s the one advice I give to anyone who talks about bringing another baby, but have all the doubts since the others are much older. Kristal is 16 years older than Madison, while my youngest son Mikael is 8 years older than her. Yes there’s a big gap between them, but she enjoys it, and so will you. I can’t wait to see all that your home has to offer and that new addition will be amazing when it’s done.

  7. Eagerly anticipating phase 2 of your remodel. And, of course, there will be so many more milestones. . . no matter what you ultimately decide.
